New to Skoda and Diesel.... enjoying it so far ! :)

Featured Replies

Hello people.

I have a 2006 2.0 TDI Superb which has had a bit of a hard life up to now. The previous owner lived near the sea and consequently when i got my car it was mostly made of rust... I have sorted out the body now and was enjoying my car until a few days ago when i noticed a fuel/exhaust smell in the cabin after driving home. This may have been there when i got it but i recently gave up smoking and am getting my sense of smell back !

I have not looked into it yet but i can report that there doesn't seem to be any loss of power, its not burning any more fuel than normal, it still sounds the same (like a truck) and all seems to be fine apart form the smell.

I will get under it and have a look this weekend, i know that the flex pipe from the turbo down is a source of problems with these cars but was wondering if there is anything else is should look for?

Many thanks,

Simon

Welcome to briskoda!

I've no idea what might be causing the smell, it might be worth posting in the superb section.

Good luck and enjoy your stay here.

Hi and welcome aboard.

No idea what the fuel smell could be. However, if you don't fix it - it will be a good incentive to keep off the cigarettes.

PS - before anyone says anything, I know that diesel fumes wouldn't be ignited by a lit cigarette.
