Who gave that a lad a job??? They must have got him from childrens TV.

It's not got chrome on the window switches, what a let down lol.

Still, he did notice the 1.6CR was labouring it quite a bit in the new Octy 3 :giggle::angel:

Cabin looks OK minus the beige, hard plastic storage compartment can be a safety issue for knees, I wonder what they NCAP tested .

Storing parcel shelf behind seat backs was possible in Mk1 Octy already, good that it's still there.

A large part of windscreen looks to be obscured by mirror mount? Probably more gizmos there, sensors for LDW, ACC, etc. I wonder if all versions will have this, hopefully not.

Also, fuel filler cap does not look lockable from the cabin? No lock cylinder on fuel cap mentioned in ETKA, so how does it work? Fuel cap open when the car is open? I thought the going advice was to lock the car while fuelling to avoid distraction thefts.

Some more info on things that caught my eye and I bothered to check:

Rear LED lights might be optional, ETKA lists both standard and LED. All still list mostly bulbs, I guess the LED part is just the sidelights and the stop lights. Both list at least 3x P21W bulbs in each cluster (std one lists 4 which I guess are stop, fog, reverse, indicator)

Front headlights shown are HID. Halogens will have H15 low/drl and H7 main, and from the drawing look to be reflector type rather than projector. If that is going to be the case, HID retrofit will be a really bad idea (due to glare), but the light output is likely much higher than projectors so the halogen lights may be OK stock.

Fogs are H8 so a bit on a weak side, but if they're anything like Roomster's then should be OK.

He needs to work on his gut.. He would have more room in the back then :D

^ car reviewers spend a lot of time on their ars - driving and writing reviews so they're bound to have one. Clarkson and May.....but strangely, not Tiff & Jason. Could be the racing driver in them maybe.

That's the editor, he spends most of his life driving or at the computer.

He's not a racing driver. :)

Yes, I know, he's Steve Fowler. I'm not suggesting he is a racing driver. I was pointing out that most hacks are probably portly whereas Tiff and Jason aren't - probably because they are/have been racing drivers.

The fuel release hasn't been about since the mk1. I open the filler cap, and lock car, close when finished. Lock again to lock the cap, although newer cars now seem to automatically lock the cap when it closes. Works car did today.

I'd buy one but the pricing for Skodas is all over the shop now. While I can get a pre reg delivery miles petrol Superb for £18-£24k depending on engine size and spec the very nice looking octavia will not be sitting on my drive, shame though because I think it looks really nice. Even the Demim blue looks ok in the film and I hate that colour so far!

Funny thing is the basic 1.2 is currently €18,945, there is a report of the new 1.2 basic model coming in at €18,995

Not much of an increase there. Hopefully this would be similar across the range.

Cars are priced differently here in Ireland, it's heavily based on the cars emissions now so hopefully we won't get scr***d too much.

Well,

The emissions will be low so that should keep the price down.

Also

My sales guy told me they will not be much dearer than the current ones.

That's the point I was trying to make. The very poorly thought out VRT system is starting to produce lower vehicle prices as the cars become more Eco friendly.

You will have noticed that they have introduced new sub-categories in the VRT bands to try and minimise the loss to the revenue from the ever decreasing C02 figures the new cars are producing.

I think we will see the VRT rates steadily increasing over the coming years.

Much like company car tax in the UK. I got my current car 4 years ago and its co2 figure is 139g/km (seemed excellent at the time!), but they move the goalposts on the Benefit in Kind by one step every year (1% of car value in tax for each 5g/km), so I need to be getting a car with less than 119g/km this July, just to stand still. An Octy3 2.0d Elegance at 106g/km would be exceeding expectations :-) But so would a 320d Touring Efficient Dynamics at 112g/km...
