Poor Superb... why?!

Featured Replies

Can't understand why this was done to this superb.

It looks intact outside but looks like the airbags have deployed?!

WTF? As you say, looks intact so one wonders why the airbags were deployed. Very odd. Why did they then wreck it rather than strip it for parts? Very bizarre.

The airbags were probably destroyed for the occasion. Probably didn't want explosive charges goijg off mid digger session...

Makes me cry inside...

Even with something like a wrecked engine it would still be economical to repair so I'm at a loss to think of any other reason other than they were bored and have too much money!

It's been covered before in the Yeti section... They are pre production models that are donated to the emergency services for testing if I remember correctly

Development vehicles have non homologated/approved parts on them, can't be sold, uneconomical to strip for parts (why would a manufacturer want to sell used parts?), so they're scrapped.

here's one of the comments, translated by Google;

But removing the bumper worth something. Too bad it does not have the MB straoje - must do it man. But don 't have a man on it :-)

Theoretically if someone found it, they would have to pay for it.

The factory is cheaper and scrapped away, tim nezabejvat. The second possibility is that the promotion of what are good guys, someone donate - vocational schools with teaching firefighters to competition or training ..

and after the date it was uploaded;

for competition purposes firefighters

Virtually all pre production models have to be totally destroyed. Only thing they are allowed to salvage usually is the radio.

Where do you think Top Gear get the nearly new cars from that they destroy?

Twingo GT for instance?.

Astra that was 'accidentaly' backed into?

All donated by the manufacturers who claim them against Corporation tax.

Same goes for film stunt cars etc.............................fully write them off and off-set the tax/value...........................ALL manufactures do this..................just look at all the expensive cars in the new James Bond films.......makes you weep!!!!!

Some manufactureres are trying to spend money by keeping some prototypes etc for their museums....but expensive to do so!!!!

Is that a Haldex equipped 4x4 one? As the front wheels lifted off the ground were spinning. If so, I guess you definitely can't be towed with the front lifted on a Haldex car. Such a waste or a lovely car :( But I suppose if it was done for fire training rather than just fun, then its not so bad.

More likely the bottom of the other front wheel was dragging on the ground slightly, making the raised one spin backwards.
