What's changed my mind?

Don't know, just decided it might be a good idea. However I still might go down the Vector route

Like Graham I was a 'winter-tyre-sceptic' originally, having always "managed" with the OEM tyres on the car, and because I needed new tyres at the right time of year, I bought the winter Conti replacements. Sinclairs have swapped them over as required, and stored the set not in use until it is time yet again to swap back. I also bought my tyres from them, the main dealer, except for when they were uncompetitive because they'd changed their supplier. They lost the sale of 2 tyres then, but have subsequently been competitive again.

Am I now a convert to winters? Cautiously, I think, given that swapping them round, and storing them at the dealer has made the thing relatively hassle-free. Performance-wise I certainly feel that the winter Conti tyres shift more water from the road judging from the mist that surrounds the car in the wet! And I do have a good level of confidence in them for stopping (as explained in another recent thread!!), and progressing (in snow). The only slight oddity is - as described by 9 million man of these posts - the "marshmallowing" around as we wibble-wobble about the lanes.

Skipping the tyres bit and Going back to the original topic, I switched a 530d for a Suberb Greenline II last year and having coveted the Yeti for a long time, this year we changed the other half's car for a new Yeti Urban. Both cars are amazing, both incredibly practical and it's a bit of a dilemma on which to take at the weekend, Yeti winning because it's new but it will balance out in time. I'm getting less time in the Yeti because she won't let me in her car also!! So I'm taking the Superb mostly but it's a win win situation all round.

Anyway, enough about me.... Back to the tyres. Living in wet and not very snowy Dublin, not sure if winter tyres are a good fit but are all weather options a good compromise for next tyre change?

Enjoy your new Superb Freshacre. I did the opposite swap from Superb hatch 170 elegance DSG to Yeti, and have had no regrets, so hopefully you will be similarly happy. In terms of the warning on resale values, if my experience is anything to go by you should be pretty happy when you come to change the Superb. I could never get on with "Superb" as a name for a car (and I've had two of them), so I always referred to it as a Super B :-)
