I have a 2010 Octavia S, if someone can help confirm it's compatible with my car, I'll snap your hand off!

Are the different steering controller revisions a universal fit, or do I need to know what's already in my car to know if this one is a suitable replacement?

There a two types of steering controller, the newer ring-type and the earlier box-type. You need to know which one you have.

Either remove the plastic cover below the steering wheel to have a look or use VCDS to see what it reports.

There are many different types of the box-type, there is a page on Ross Tech which lists them and their features.

Hope that helps.

Ok, searching online it seems the steering wheel has to come off to access the bolts securing the lower trim piece. Not sure if I'm proficient enough to do all that. There's an independant VAG garage in my area, I'll give them a ring to see if they have VCDS. Otherwise I notice a couple of forum members in the merseyside area with VCDS. Any chance you'd consider slapping a reserve on the controller while I sort this out?
