Elegance Trim levels

Featured Replies

Hello!

Been looking at some Superb Elegance models and noticed that some have leather and some dont.

Is there a standard equipment list on the net that I can look at?

I am looking around at getting my first Skoda and I am looking at a number of options, and a diesel Elegance is one of them. And I like the Photos I am seeing with heated front and rear seats etc. But did they also have Xenons like the L&K Octavia?

The ones I have also seen are like £2.9K for a 150K version on an 02 -04 plate. It seems a little high to me? Even if it is from a dealer.

Stigg,

There were some post a while back where people were selling their cars, they list out the specification of the elegance models i think.

its all in here somewhere!

I thought all Elegances had Xenon and Leather. Mine is a 52 plate 2002 1.9tdi 130 Elegance. Set me back only £1875 :) it has Bi-Xenon with washers. Heated leather seats in the front and rear, and all the other gadgets, parking sensors, cruise, climate, puddle lights, power fold mirrors, auto wipers....

I've noticed this as well. There appear to be several variations on the Elegance trim level. I haven't quite worked out where the changes are but there seem to be three main themes:

Elegance with cloth trim (appears to be vertical stripes up the seatback), no satellite navigation.

Elegance with full leather, no satellite navigation.

Elegance with full leather and satellite navigation.

There are also variations in what sound system is fitted - On the non-satnav models I've seen both single and double DIN head units, and both CD and tape units, both with and without CD changers. Another variation is the heated rear seats, which don't seem to be standard on every Elegance.

I believe, although stand to be corrected, that Xenons were standard on all of these - but it's difficult to tell as the lights themselves look identical and not everyone lists them.

So either there's a lot of Superbs out there mis-described as Elegances (which I'm not sure is the case as I've never seen the same trim on Comforts), or there's some points where the spec changed.

Think from 2005 had split folding rear seats.

£1875! Blimey! Its certainly the spec I would love.

I am thinking of going to www.woma.co.uk when something comes along. assuming nothing comes up here!

Although I might be tempted with a members VRs!

our 05 Elegance was effectively the top-of-the-range spec Superb at the time. The *only* options that were available for our model was different alloys (to the solid 17"), sunroof, and solar powered sunroof. That was pretty much it.

Ours had leather front heated and leather rear heated split seats, colour sat nav, electric front seats with driver memory, bi-xenon headlights, reverse parking, blah blah blah.

I think when the original buyer bought the car he/ she ordered what spec they wanted.

For eg the guy that I got mine off got the sunroof instead of the sat nav,

Split rear seats, air con,...

Yes he used to have the sunroof open and air con on at the same time. Duh.

Think from 2005 had split folding rear seats.

My 55 plate has split rears.

So how does the solar sun roof work then?

Does it charge anything?

Yep although it was overdue a cambelt change so had to do that.
As for the rear seats they only became split folding rear seats on the facelift in 2005. My 2002 seats don't fold or split. PITA to be honest and the only downside to the car. The only upside is things can be safely locked in the boot and even smashing a window wouldn't give you access.

Seats can be locked in place with the main key barrels on the top of the seat backs, which would prevent access.

I believe the first elegance models had cloth/partial leather but soon changed to full leather as standard. Satnav came standard at the facelift IIRC. I've never seen a standard superb with double din apart from with the dx nav. Classic had single slot cd, comfort and elegance had cassette deck up front with changer in boot. In place of the second slot was a storage tray.

Lots of variations throughout its life.

So up until 2005 the seats did not fold. right? But the upside is that there is a huge boot.

There's one for sale I've seen recently (either on eBay or Autotrader, I forget which) which appears to have a double-DIN setup.

It allows the blower fans to run when the engine's off and the car's parked in the sun. Keeps air circulating in the cabin to keep it closer to ambient air temperature and less oven-like.

Doesn't charge a thing as far as I'm aware - there's been some comments which suggest it 'charges a small battery to keep blower fans running' but I've found no evidence of a battery, nor any part number on any of the fiches to suggest it.

Thats Clever! I really like that idea.

So. What sort of economy could you see out of the 1.9TD and the 2.0TD?

Because was there not 2 versions of the 1.9 diesel? a 110 and and 130BHP version?

I'm really stuck on the diesel but I hear that the 1.8T was quite frugal too?

This is also how I understood the solar sunroof to work. It doesn't charge anything. It's an interesting idea, though we find that remote opening the windows for a few minutes before getting in is quite effective too.

Seemingly so. The folding seats are useful for long loads but the actual opening behind the seats is too narrow to be useful for really large items, so the advantage is somewhat devalued.

There is a 'ski bag' behind the armrest (unless you have a fridge) which allows for small long loads on non-folding seats.

As I said on my other reply to your 'Hi' thread - DON'T buy a 2.0PD Mk1 Superb. Just don't. Have a read through this forum and you'll find plenty of reasons not to, involving oil pumps and much expense.

Check the engine code on the vehicle data sticker under the boot carpet to definitely identify what power the vehicle was fitted with if the seller is not sure or you don't believe them!

There were Superbs with the 100BHP and 110BHP versions of the 1.9PD as well as the 130, but all Elegances will be the 130PD as far as I'm aware.

Many Elegances will be autos. Personally, I like automatics, so I accept the lower fuel consumption and higher emissions that go along with it. My Edition 100 has been averaging 38.9mpg over the last three thousand miles, but I do a very wide mix of driving from short trips to long haul. On a 5mi commute to work, I'll average 34mpg. On a 250 mile long run, I'll see 48+mpg.

I don't know what 'real world' figures are like for the manuals.

Just for reference these are the decoded options from my 56 Elegance 2.0Tdi

E0A = No special edition

1D0 = Without trailer hitch

The only option missing from this list is the self destructing oil pump!

Thats Clever! I really like that idea.

It's worth mentioning while I think about it - the one drawback to it (which I'm experiencing at present on mine) is that it means the blower fans are running a lot of the time even when the car is parked - this basically means that if the car's 5 years old it's probably got more like 10+ years of wear on the blower motor. On mine, this has led to the blower motor bearings beginning to squeal intermittently which is damned irritating. I will have to replace the blower motor but by all accounts the job is a bit of a ball-ache (because of limited space under dash and clearance around airbags...

Oh Dear! Self destructing oil pump!

Did they ever find a solution to it?

That's only the 2.0 diesel get a 1.9 and it'll be fine :)

My 2.0 diesel had a new engine at 38,000 miles before I bought it at 43,000. So on the plus side, I got a car with 5,000 miles on the engine. But is the replacement engine now fixed and reliable? I hear conflicting reports on that, and some cars have got through 2 engines. Then there is the dreaded DPF.....

It's a shame as I really like the car and it has been ultra reliable for me so far. But every time the frost warning pings it gives me an anxiety attack as it could be the oil pressure warning.
