Elegance Trim levels

That's only the 2.0 diesel get a 1.9 and it'll be fine :)

And isn't it only the 140bhp version of the 2.0 that's a lemon?

The superb only had the 140bhp 2.0 tdi in it. My 1.8t regularly hit around 32mpg. That wasnt driving like Miss Daisy either...

32MPG! Blimey. My current car is a 2.0L Twincam with only 140BHP. And admittedly its an estate but my onboard says 31.9, and thats driving like an old man with lots of coasting!

Car tax is also £270!

I've got a 1.9 130BHP Elegance and mine averages about 50mpg, although most of my driving tends to be long straight runs between Leicester and Hull on the motorway at 65....

Mine's a 55 plate, no sunroof, solar or otherwise! and i think i've got parking sensors but not quite sure, it makes the odd beeping noise when i'm reversing but not in any reference to how close i am to objects!

My 2.0 diesel had a new engine at 38,000 miles before I bought it at 43,000. So on the plus side, I got a car with 5,000 miles on the engine. But is the replacement engine now fixed and reliable? I hear conflicting reports on that, and some cars have got through 2 engines. Then there is the dreaded DPF.....

The fault was never cured, so your replacement engine could suffer exactly the same fate as the one that went before it. All the PD140's in the MK1 Superb only regardless of number of engine replacements are at risk. The MK2 PD140 is a totally redesigned engine so does not have this problem.

As others have said, if you want a diesel MK1 superb then get the tried and trusted 1.9.

DPF can be mapped out, but at least you don't have one of those with the 1.9 either.

Whippee deee I have a cargo flex in my elegance - how wonderfully useful????

I shall enjoy my leather seats more that I know they're 'fine Nappa leather'!

I wonder if the Euro Superbs had the umbrella in the opposite door to the UK? I could have 2 umbrellas then!

What's the DPF?

What's the DPF?

Diesel Particle Filter, fitted only to the 2.0 PD140, which uses a very expensive fluid stored in the back of the car for regeneration in the MK1 Superb.

No, same door - it's the driver's side on the LHD.
