Galaxy Note 2 & Premium Bluetooth Data Disconnect

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have recently updated my creaking old Desire HD to the Galaxy Note 2 (which is a brilliant phone after you get over the shock of something so large), and one of the positive aspects of the Samsung handsets is the built-in rsap compliancy.

Only one issue though is the fact that when I connect to the car in 'Premium' mode, I seem to lose all mobile network data connectivity.

I know that once connected the phone & car basically become 'one' but is there any way of connecting whilst being able to use Google navigation.

Have played around with all the menu settings and can't seem to find anything to cure the situation. Has anyone come up against this??

Cheers

Dean

My htc does the same.

You can't use Bluetooth on a call and data. Certainly with a vag car kit

So it wasn't me being dim then..

That sir... sucks!

What an oversight!!!

Hmm.. Thats interesting. I use co-pilot with bluetooth radio.. (co-pilot uses data for traffic) and Im pretty sure I received an email before too while using this set up.

I am rooted and custom rom, but im sure thats got little to do with whats said above.

Copilot uses maps on the sd card, and therefore doesn't need mobile data connection. I'm sure as well that the traffic polls every 15 minutes.

One thing I don't understand is what rsap actually does that I can't do with my HTC?

RSAP disables all the phone functionality and its taken over by the car, so all radio on the handset is disabled so no data. When in RSAP you'll get better signal as instead of the handset the car becomes the phone and you use the roof mounted aerial, and you get a lot more features in the maxidot display and headunit for reading text messages etc just like a proper phone.

You can setup data connections in RSAP mode, using maxidot but you must get the settings from your phone provider.

If you want data on your galaxy then you'll need to use HFP mode.

So rsap is more a pita.

Always wondered why everyone got so hung up on having a supporting handset.

Ah I forgot to say Internet radio on phone via bluetooth audio to car. Traffic can be as frequent as every few secs iirc. Think I set it to minutes though.

The only downtime/interuption is when buffer is depleted from radio or when Copilot gives me a direction.

Well then the question remains, if the data cant flow from the car to the handset then how do I turn off rsap?!
