Paintless repair on SM

Featured Replies

I collected a sharp dent on the wing of the SM which Obviously I wasn't too happy about.

I did some research and discovered paintless repair--so I thought I would give it a go and found a guy locally who had good reviews.

I have to say the job he did in about an hour was very nearly miraculous and for a fraction of the cost of a bodyshop

I know loads of you will be going to say that's ancient history, but I thought I would share it for those who are unaware

I have attached a photo of the damage--there's no point in an after you cant see anything!post-82637-0-43433900-1359546237_thumb.jpg'

I've got a dent in the hatchback I need repairing, but there are none of these types around my area, which is a shame.

Not heard of this before, and it certainly sounds to be a very useful system. Are there limitations as to the size or depth of the lesion they can repair?

This is the local guy I used: there's lots of photos on his site to give you an Idea-- if the paint film is broken you are stuffed and you will need a conventional repair, but if not, he can work miracles. Apparently one of the advantages of modern paint formulations are that they are quite flexible

He is not a franchise but a quick google will usually find someone in your area

So long as they can get access to the rear of the panel and the paint isn't damaged beyond polishing out almost 100% success!

I reckon c.£50 or less/dent.

Many dealers/bodyshops use them - so worth enquiring there?

Not fastidious to have used one, but aren't most dent fixers mobile based?

Good to know how effective they can be, thanks for sharing.

They can repair panels without rear access apparently but it is more difficult to get a good result---if the dent isn't too sharp they use glue on tabs and pull them out. You are right a lot of body shops call these guys in if they haven't got the equipment, or more importantly the expertise. The person I used was in the bodyshop trade and he spent ages practising on old body panels making different types of dents in them to practise the art

Obviously not mobile enough to come to Mid Wales! :giggle:

Cheers, he must be new because I've never been able to find anyone willing to come out this far in the past. Will give him a shout later.
