Buying Help octavia 1.6 mpi 2009

Well here goes i`m in the market for a skoda octavia i need it for my work horse and need some advice..

i do about 100 miles a day around town odd motorway and i was looking at the norm of a 1.9 tdi but i have spoke to a few cabbies and they have said they are good but till something goes wrong then its alot of £££`s as if its not the Egr,fly wheel,turbo there something else and its always a dear fix..

so taking that into mind i was wondering is the 1.6 mpi going to be any better for me as the yearly fix cost will be less,the inital buying cost is £2000 less and i intent to keep the car for about 5 years?

what your thoughts and does anybody have real town driving mpg figures for the 1.6?
