How many of those are standard features and how many are options?

Yeah, that annoys me about VAG vehicles. So many things are optional. Thinking my next car will be a Subaru Legacy as the choices are simpler :)and it has a bigger fuel tank -noooooo!

Isn't Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control pretty much motorway autopilot? I was thinking about getting cruise control on mine, but on a recent late night motorway drive I realised the only thing really keeping me awake was regulating the throttle.

I don't find cruise a problem on motorways at night. If anything it helps me stay awake as I can move my legs round a bit more.

The combination does sound suspiciously like a full autopilot though - I'd be interested to see some tests.

I recently test drove an X60 that had ACC and found it brilliant to use. You could set the speed and 'danger' distance and as it was coupled with an auto box then it made for a relaxing drive.

I didn't see auto main beam mentioned in the write up but that's also nice to have.

anyone noticed this ? I saw a couple of review videos and it s got a starter button but it s got it where you would normally insert the key, now that is something different but would feel very weird, wouldnt it ??

Cruise control is a nice function to have, especially those which have advanced adaptive technology, however, lane departure assist....well i'm sorry but should you really be driving if you require this feature?!!

The simple fact is that people sometimes make mistakes. I don't think there's going to be anyone relying on it as a matter of course, but most drivers can probably recall a couple of occasions where they might not have been paying the correct amount of attention and have wandered a bit.

I know I have, and got away with it.

It's rather common, at least I've driven a few cars where the button is exactly there. Doesn't feel weird at all, you are used to poking in that area anyhow. Now you just do it with out the key.

I disagree entirely with any notion that todays drivers will not rely on the departure lane assist function if added to a car, specially given the high number of irresponsible & lazy morons, that can be seen out on the road.

I have cruise & find that it can only really be used on the M20 for approx a 40 mile section and on the M6 toll where it is quiet enough to do so without having to switch it off due to drivers who yo-yo their speeds ( Oh! & use it on motorway roadworks where they have average speed cameras).

Got adaptive cruise and lane assist on the passat. Makes driving safer and less tiring in my view.

I used to think the same until I actually tried using cruise for most of the time. I do a Manchester to Kent run a couple of times a month and I have been using mine for pretty much all of the journey. It took a while to get the hang of how to use it to properly but I found that looking faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ahead and waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy behind is the key. Anticipation is everything.

Sometimes it is too busy to use it though.

Its not clear whether ACC is standard with cruise control, or is an optional extra from June - its not in the brochure in the options. Any ideas?

Standard cruise is standard on the elegance, adaptive cruise is an optional extra

thanks - presumable its not available to order until June? Its not in the configurator either?
