Service indicator - extra info on display

Featured Replies

1.2 Htp engine - Just done the 20,000 mile service myself today. When resetting the service indicator I noticed if I held the trip button in, turned ignition on and waited then first "-1400" appeared on the screen followed after a few seconds by -203. The numbers disappeared when I reset the indicator.

Any idea what these numbers meant?

1400 miles 203 days?

<p>Below is from Mk1 handbook - assume Mk.2 is same/ similiar?

Service Interval Display

A key symbol ? page 11, fig. 5 appears in the counter display for distance driven

about 30 days before reaching the due date for the service. The remaining distance

to be driven will be indicated for 10 seconds next to the key symbol and then the

remaining number of days to the due date for the service inspection.

The following will be displayed in the information display*:

SERVICE DUE IN ... KM OR ... DAYS

The kilometre indicator or the days indicator reduces in steps of 100 km. or days

until the service due date is reached.

The text INSP appears as a flashing key symbol and as soon as the due date for the

service is reached.

Just out of curiosity, how do you reset the service reminder please, is it a press and hold button to reset? Thanks

1400 miles 203 days?

Possibly - but the numbers dont stack up, the (Fixed interval) service was overdue by only 198 days and mileage was 350 under the 10k interval. I guess the minus sign probably means "overdue by".

The figures now are all "------", also the second figure but I noticed a little clock symbol alongside that, suggesting time. Will keep an eye on it to sus it out.

For the Mk1 its hold the trip button, turn on ignition, keep holding the button in until the service display resets (a few seconds later)

For the Mk 2 like mine (pre face lift) its hold the trip button, turn on ignition, release trip button, turn trip button to the right (clockwise), turn off ignition.

I believe its different for the post face lift Mk 2 (c 2009?) models again, possibly Method 1 for fixed interval and method 2 for variable servicing.

Anyone with the maxidot can do it through that.

Resetting the service interval will set it to fixed interval servicing automatically (10k/1year)

I have seen this option on maxi dot to reset service indicator. I wondered if would really do it cos after warranty I would do the inspection service (oil change) myself if I really could reset the service indicator.

my service interval seems set to variable, when as i belive the fabia vrs is fixed servicing only as it does not have the the sensors for variable. My question is why dont the set the the display to variable, my service light has come on and its only done 18700 miles and it says service due in 100 mls. My first service was done at 9500, so i will tae it back in at 19500 and make sure its set to fixed.

If you had a service at 9500 mls then the service indicator would have been reset. If you were on variable, then you would be expecting the next service to be in 18600 mls more. Since the light has come on at 18700 mls, that is 9200 mls between services which would indicate you are already on fixed servicing!

OK, got this sussed. On examining these numbers a few days after servicing and resetting the indicator, the first number is the number of miles left to next service and the second number is the number of days.

I suspect when the car was last serviced by the Skoda dealer, they reset it via diagnostics. The -203 refers to 203 days overdue (actually should have been -198) and -1400 as 1400 miles overdue - it was actually 1000+ under, unless it counts mileage as overdue from the time limit being hit, in which case it doesnt make any sense at all as I have done much more that 1400 miles since then.

All in all I have stopped trusting all main dealers of all marques to do even the simplest of things.
