Hey from Australia

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

My name is George, from Queensland in Australia. I wasn't very familiar with the Skoda vehicles up until recently, although unlike many i knew they existed(just didn't know many details about the company etc.)but i am fast becoming intrigued by this wonderful brand.

As of the 4th of Feb (2 days time) i will be starting off at a Skoda dealership here in Queensland as a salesman, with that i am making it my ambition to find out as much off the record and intricate information about the Skodas as i possibly can. Not only so i can confidently push the product but because i want to form that sort of relationship with brand and owner that isn't only skin deep.

So i thought i'd just drop in and introduce myself and occasionally chime in from time to time, i'll happily offer any generic advice that i can at anytime (being a qualified mechanic) and happily admit when i'm wrong or out of my depth also.

I look forward to becoming a part of this exciting community.

Thanks

George

Hi George,

Welcome from pomland!

I joived in Melbourne for 2 years so understand how new the brand is and the culture of holden and ford.

I would highly recommend Skoda and if the dealers are anything like UK I think you will meet with friendly knowledgeable staff.

If you want to study before you start work all of the engines are shared with vw and audi.

There are master technician/s that regularly post in the technical section of the forum.

Skoda seem to attract those interested in excellent value no matter what the customers demographic background.

I wish you well.

Best wishes,

John

Thanks for your quick reply John. I'm sure i'll have no issues with professionalism from staff, and product quality (even from the outside of the vehicles, the high quality is evident. To me anyway)it's just as you mentioned the whole Holden/Ford culture and our citizens having issues leaving their substandard rubbish behind for better value and quality. All the more to the challenge and excitement of selling them.

I can truly say i am excited about the brand, (i also had a mitsubishi dealer to choose from and the excitement about the cars just wasnt there (even being an evo owner myself). I will also be selling Isuzu utes which i'm also happy about and would put in a similar category for quality/reliability.

Welcome to Briskoda, George. :) There is an absolute wealth of information here about Skoda cars which would be hard to find anywhere else.

Hey George

Welcome to Skoda.

I picked up me Yeti on 16 January from Kinghorne Skoda in Nowra. I'm currently in Canberra but moving to Darwin be the end of March for work. I'm still not sure if I'm driving the Yeti to Darwin or putting it on the back of a truck.

I think you'll have a hard time selling Skoda in Australia. Skodas are excellent vehicles and should sell easy but I think the biggest problem is Skoda Australia and VW Australia are one in the same company. VW Australia wont let Skoda hurt VW sales and they use pricing to manage it.

I put a tow bar on my Yeti and needed tow wiring. Here in Canberra I was quoted $730, Nowra $520. I ended up getting it from the UK for $265 delivered.

Happy Days.

Hi and welcome aboard.
