Pikey Mod Mark II, well sort of....

Featured Replies

Yeah but there are certain words that are accepeted, (if that's the right word) as being particularly offensive to certain groups and are therefore not used or not accepted such as the n word, pikey really isn't any different.

Anyway not here to get into that. I would go and get some pics of my arch liner with the drilled holes and the mesh but its raining! The local DIY store was actually a village ironmongers - 50% cheaper that Halfrauds!

Been doing some searching and a car-repair shop or local DIY store may well be the cheapest. Must admit the mesh looks like the way to go for me for the 'part 1' bit as well. Main reason being the very much easier way to fit it :D

It definately does free up the rev range, I have noticed a gain for definate, and yes I understand the stone comment and how it could fly up and hit the intercooler, but on the premis that I only cut a small section it probably won't be any different to the standard front grille fog light as there is plenty of space for a stone to fly through with that on.

There also appears to be a much more noticable induction roar for some reason, definately not a placebo effect, it honestly sounds more meaty somehow?

And with regards to putting a mesh in the way to stop stone chips and the like the aim of this was to free up air going into the SMIC and I can only see from scouting around the front fog area that you will only impeed airflow, in which case there is no point in removing the grille in the first place.

Surely that depends on the mesh you choose? I know I'd rather have something there so that if the worst did happen, I didn't have to shell out for a new SMIC - I bet they're not cheap from Skoda!!!

I suppose :o, if the SMIC does get broke then I guess I might just have to speak with SWMBO and get me a nice FMIC :D ( prays for shower of stones to hit the SMIC  )

 - hidden motives coming out now ;)

I'd never get away with a FMIC - SWMBO is already complaining I spend too much on the toy

Most things I've done have been cheap so far, and the twin-cup holder thing was for convienience, Parrot for safety :D

I'll probably go for part I of this thing first, with some mesh, as I should be able to fit it without taking the car to bits & it will cost me a very minor amount of cash :)
