Advice needed please.

Featured Replies

Hi all,I'm new to posting on the forum, but have used it several times when I'm in need of advice concerning my Skoda.

I own a 2002 Skoda Fabia 1.4 mpi and when I pulled up to a kerb today,I caught the long piece of plastic that's underneath the front of the car on the kerb.As I pulled away and drove off,it must of broken and was dragging.I got out to investigate, but couldn't get the remove it completely until I got home.I have now removed it,but am concerned that it may serve a purpose, although I can't see what. The piece of plastic is approx 3ft long,1 inch wide and slightly curved. It's very flimsy and was only held on with 2 screw things.I hope someone knows what I'm talking about and can help. Thanks

Welcome to this forum

Do you mean fixed to the bottom edge of the bumper?

If so it's only decorative. Presumably the solution is to remove the one on the other side (assuming half of it's come off). A photo might help...

Is it the front splitter?

Caught mine a few years ago and cut it off . AA wanted to class a call out as accident, and trailer me ( at cost) to a dealer . Never noticed any difference in not having it . I always thought it was made of rubber .

Is it the front splitter?

That car won't have a splitter as such. I've now looked out a picture and you can see here there appears to be a black lip on the bottom centre section of the bumper - I suspect it's that that's come off. Can't see it's performing any active function can you?

Thanks for advice.I did cut it off,as there was no way of putting it back on.I checked with my garage first though, who assured me it was just decorative. Thanks again Amy
