Octavia 1.9 tdi dsg 2008 check after buy

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I am new owner of my skoda. I bought this car coz I always wanted to have one.

My Octavia is from approved program from skoda so everything should be ok but we all know that this is not always true. What I want to do is to check everything, and because this is my first diesel and automatic car I want to especialy pay attention to engine and gearbox. I am willing to even pay for full check but don't know where to go so I can fully trust. Any ideas?

Also where can I find everything about my car, like how powerfull is ,bph, and features installed as standard.

My octavia is 1,9 TDI PD DSG Elegance first req in 2008

Thanks for your time

What kind of service history does It have? Mileage?

I have just bought pretty much the same car but a year older.

It's a 1.9 PD105 (so 105 bhp) and 184 lb/ft of torque.

Standard spec is:

Dual zone climate

Stream MP3 with 6 CD changer in boot

Rain sensitive wipers

Headlamp washers

Puddle lights

4x electric windows

Fog lights

Rear parking sensors

16" alloys wheels

Phil

Just take it to another Skoda main dealer.

They will be falling over themselves to find things they can replace and charge you for.

Most of them do free winter checks too which quite often end up being a comprehensive check-over for the reason above.

Service wise if its done 40k it should have the oil changed in the DSG gearbox and the cambelt changed.

I found one site which was really helpful

Here it is : http://www.helpfindmea.co.uk/cars/specs/skoda-octavia-specifications-365/octavia-diesel-hatchback-05-08-19-tdi-pd-elegance-5dr-dsg-specifications-28246.aspx

PS: your PD105, that's 77 kW am I right?

Silver 1011: That is not bad idea. I think I will do that just to check it.

KosherBacon: it just passed 38000, that means that next service cambelt will needs to change?

Phil: it has full service history and it was done each year and mileage is as I just wrote up here

It should have a new cambelt every four years, regardless of milage.

Can I ask how much you paid for it? Where was it from? I was stalking a few on Autotrader and eBay for the past month.

KosherBacon I know what you mean.

I used to drive 02 megane coupe and always wanted octavia but wasnt in rush as i had a car. So I was searching and came with same result. Good octavia is hard to find as people do like them and keep them. And if one does come up you have to act fast coz next day will be gone.

My girlfriend sort it out for me. Hers was in garage so borrowed mine and wrecked it. I got it back in 2 pieces. So now finaly I had reason why to get it.

I looked on car sale web sides, in garages in my area and all I could find was with 100k or more and I didn't want it so high. Then I started to phone skoda dealers and my local had this one.

Yes I overpaid it I think as it cost me £7000 but coz I already had money on side for new car, difference I took on finance.

But I have car with low mileage and 1 year skoda warranty

£7k is probably OK-good the cheapest(08/30k-40k) when I was looking last year was around £8k .

autotrader <40k elegance 1.9 dsg not much under £8k still.

cam belt should have been done might be at the back of the service book if not in the regular service bit.

DSG oil due soon

probably should have had a brake fluid change.

If its not had tyres changed they might be getting low.

Check the rear washer is working and not pumping into the boot.

Funny you mentioned rear washer, coz I got feeling it stopped working or I am just still dump to find operated it.

I will check for cam belt at the back of the service book.

Break fluids it had changed I've seen it in book.

I am away this week so will do when I'll come back.

What else should I check it.

I very recently bought the same car.

It's a MY08 car on a late 2007 reg.

20,283 miles on the clock.

Full dealer service history and they gave it a service and replaced cambelt, tensioners and water pump before I bought it.

Paid £8k for mine.

The DSG oil change you need to check on. I think it's due at 40k miles with no time limit.

The rear washer you push the washer stalk all the way back (away from you). It will "click" to turn the wiper on then you push past that and it operated the rear washer.

How did you do it. Did you asked them to changed it? Is it any chance they will do it for me now after sale?
