Piper exhaust poor quality

Featured Replies

I've had my exhaust system on now for only 4 weeks and the tailpipe has started to corrode already.

The pipes have been cleaned regularly and polished so its not down to me not keeping on top of the cleaning.

I'm really annoyed at how easily the pipes have detiereated over such a short amount of time.

Anyone else had the same issues?

I know the weather is not ideal but surely a company as big as piper can produce a system that won't corrode within 4 weeks.

I would try contacting piper before having a rant on here. It might be a bad batch and surley there would be a warrenty for something like this.

I've had a piper exhaust fitted for a little while and had no problems with it at all.

If it has corroded then I'm sure Piper will be happy to help.

On one of my old cars I found that I was polishing the tip that often come the winter time it was corroding. In thinking maybe I wore through the protective coating??

Yes certian cleaning products can do more damage than good in the long run.

Just aswell I don't use them in the Fabia then :)

So what have piper said? Or have you turned to slating them in the first instance before giving them a chance to reply to your issues?! I`v had mine for well over a year and its spot on, all I use is a sponge and a little metal polish once or twice over the past year.

I had a piper exhaust on my vrs with no issues. I now have a full system on my civic with no issues and its all second hand with zero signs of rust. One of the best fitting systems out there and great quality!

Ive had bad experiences with piper. My girlfriend ran a cat back on her corsa vxr. The back box fell apar after a few months and the fitment of it down the exhaust tunnel was very, very poor. So much so she now runs the standard exhaust again.

Id personally go to a company like JP exhausts in maccesfield who make fully custom exhausts on your car. Their quailty is amazing, they even make manifolds for things like ariel atoms.

I had a piper on my Focus, tip didn't corrode and the Piper on my Ibiza is still fine under the soot

What did piper say though?

I've heard good things about them too! Just a shame that the bloke who does their quotes is useless at getting back to people! I've emailed them and also rang to be told I will be called back by 'dave'

She hasnt bothered. She doesnt have time to chase things up. It was also really droney. Sold it on. The car also pulls alot better on the standard exhaust. 2'' to 3'' after the cat creates alot of lag and rubbish mpg.

And dan, your best bet would to just turn up. Iirc my mate paid either 250 or 350 for a full 2.5'' system on his pd 150 golf, turbo back.. No boxes though thats with a mufflerectomy

May try ringing them today, as it stands I had a custom exhaust done elsewhere for my Fabia from the turbo back which cost me £250 with a mufflerectomy. All Im after is a price for silencer so may try ringing them again today.

Gone are the days of ringing a company to express your concerns with their products, and out come the keyboard warriors to try and take down a whole company single handidly :D

Exactly, I find it amazing that when people are unhappy with a product they don't contact the company?! Moan like **** about how poor they are but won't phone or email with thier issues.

Over the years iv had a few issues with various companies and after contacting them iv always had a satisfactory outcome. Everyone makes mistakes, but it's how the company deals with the problem that makes the difference to me.

Piper are an awesome company so I'm sure they will sort you out. I've had 2 of their systems previously and they have been brilliant!

I bought a second hand piper exhaust years ago when I had a Corsa sport. Loved the subtle noise it made so much, the tip didn't corrode and obviously wasn't a new system.

Looking at the above posts you seem to be in the minority, definitely send them a pm i'm sure they would help.
