Trouble with brakes

Featured Replies

Hoping someone can help me out with this, sounds like quite a common problem!

I left our Fabia mk1 parked up for about 7 weeks whilst away (and like a fool left the handbrake on)

Tried to move it but wasn't happening so a mechanic friend suggested tapping the rear drums with a hammer.

I did this which freed it up (although one of the drums still sounds like it's sticking slightly)

However the major problem is the braking is now very "lumpy" - the car doesn't stop smoothly at all.

Is it likely that there is permanent damage done? (something wrong with ABS...?)

Brakes stuck on once before but no lumpy/grinding effect and were fine after some miles.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

They may free themselves while your using them. If not strip down and replace.

ok I'll give it a while longer then.

I guess you mean the replace the shoes?

Yeah. When my rear disks get warm my handbrake releases off as mine sticks from day to day
