New car time

Featured Replies

Well, the time has come for my trusty Octavia vRS to be replaced. :(

I can say hand on heart its been the best car i have ever had. I have owned it for the best part of 7 years and in that time it has been pretty much faultless, we have had some highs and lows together and i will be seriously sad to see it go. Now on 156,000 miles its had a hard life and it has the battles scars to prove it, but i still love driving it. I think i will probably shed a tear when it goes.

So whats its being replaced with.. well i have put a deposit down on a lovely little 3 door BMW 123d M Sport. I toyed with the idea of another octavia but i don't need anything that big any more. I'll post some pics up once i have it in my possession. I look forward to never having to use my indicator again and driving 2 inches from the back of you on the motorway, after all it is now my god given right! :giggle:

:D at your god given rights

Bonnie motor you're getting, good luck with it

The 740i I am picking up tomorrow has the driver convenience pack...including indicators ;)

Reminds me of some graffiti on the back of a WM transport Bus in Coventry circa 1985 when I was student at th Lanch. On the rear pillar was a picture of a big thumb with the words "Please let the bus pull out" underneath some wag had written "Cos it will"

There was a Car article many years ago lamenting the standard of the London Bus drivers, which described the novel new technology fitted to their fleet of buses that linked the gearbox to the indicator mechanism, so that upon operating the right indicator the bus would lurch forwards and into the traffic automatically

Well i picked it up yesterday.. love it so far!

The 123d isn't particularly quick off the mark due to the fact the gearbox is so short, but in gear acceleration it is astonishing! This one has been remapped so its currently around 240bhp.

Now to get rid of the 'tavia.

lovelly best paint wheels combo too

Lovely car, do you know if its had the fix to stop it being stolen. they have the honour of being the most targeted car for theft in the UK, without the fix it can be stolen without your keys in less than 5 seconds using a blank key and an OBD2 programmer.

I had a 118 as a hire car in spain a few years ago, but found it to small to be practical.

I thought that was the 3 series?

its any BMW that uses the key that you push into the dash and press the start button.

The problem is that inserting the key powers up the ECU and the rest of the car regardless of it being paired or not. From there you can program that blank key to the immobiliser and start the car.

One thread of many on the internet including video.

Having a google it has been to BMW since they issued the fix so i would hope it has been done, i might give them a call just to make sure.

Lovely cars! Would love to swap to one of those at one point.

Enjoy it :)

Tidy motor, everybody bar me in my department at work has a 1 series.

Very nice - mine's a 5 door and it's easily one of the best cars I've owned. :D

Fix has been out since before Christmas and mine was done in December by the main dealer. Not that I was particularly worried about the car being stolen  Takes about 5 minutes to apply and they can probably do it on the spot for you if it's not been done already.

>sits back and waits for the doom mongers saying the ride is too harsh and it will be useless in winter  <
