Hi

The second one is probably as I don't have the air quality sensor but have the button as I've upgraded to a FL climate panel (its a pre FL car). Any ideas about the first? Can't find the fault codes on the Ross Tech Wiki.

Thanks in advance

Adam

The missing message is due to the age of your car and the older modules

Do you know how many flaps your recirculation control box has?

Did you check to make sure the compressor starts?

if your compressor works fine and you have a single flap

I have an AQS with loom available

Thanks. The compressor works fine, but not sure how to determine the number of flaps? Be interested in the loom and sensor. Are you saying it only works if I have one flap?

Cheers

Adam

if you have 2 flaps then it will mist up, you probably have 1 flap

Well its certainly the pre fl unit, the only thing I changed was the switch panel. Where does the sensor reside?

Hi

it is under the scuttle trim where the outside air comes through

  • 10 months later...

Any new info about that first fault code? I've got the same code on my car as i also retrofitted FL panel to 2008 Pre-FL vRS. Everything seems to be running fine and i did some logging of the AC compressor and it runs as it should. I can post the full fault code list as soon as i get the codes from the another laptop...

I googled it at length and could find very little. But I have had no problems so am no longer worried.

I did read it might be to do with the newness of the panel and it wouldn't occur if the FL panel had a part with an A suffix. But I have never tested this.

Ok. Did you manage to do the compressor adaptation by pressing AC + rear screen heater buttons? Mine won´t do anything if i press those buttons for atleast a minute. Also i can't code the unit. VCDS displays an error and nothing happens.

So first two codes are because the unit is too new for my car. The third is for the missing air quality sensor and the last is because it is not coded. I tried to apply 0000000000 and 0100000000 codes but it doesn't accept those.

Here is my coding (so perhaps try 0000000002?).  I had none of your troubles I am afraid - the compressor adaptation worked fine for me after about 3 seconds of holding the buttons.

I'll try the coding again today. I was wondering that would the version of VCDS be important here? If the panel is too new for my 11.06 version of VCDS and that's why it won't do the coding? I could try to source a newer version of it and try with that...

  • Author

May well do. Current vcds is 12.12 or something. If its a genuine cable its just a simple download.

Coding worked with that 0000000002 code, so one fault code less on the system. I'll have to try the compressor adaptation again in the summer when the requirements with the weather are met for it to run. If id doesn's work then, i'll have to purchase an older version of the panel.

The first fault looks like a component protection code. You will need to go to a dealer.

Component protection? Could you explain what does it mean? I've never heard of that...

Some newer components have a challenge-response function. The component sends out a message saying 'Here I am - if all is well, answer me'. If it doesn't get a valid response it will either shut down completely or limit functionality. Your car doesn't know how to respond as the new panel isn't an option.

As technology moves forward, the cost of an option may be 50% hardware/50% software or even 100% software and they don't want give that software away for free. Whilst I haven't seen anything called an option licence, this functionality will allow for it.

Components can also raise component protection codes if safety critical options have been disabled or to protect themselves. AFAIK, only a dealer can reset these codes.

Ok, few problems on that code resetting with the dealer. Guess how the local dealer reacts on customer installed retrofit parts that aren't ment to be installed on the car at the first place? I'm guessing they will not do anything because of that. Secondly what will the code resetting by the dealer help? Won't those codes be immediately back because the unit is a lot newer than the car it is installed on? Or is it mandatory to reset those codes by the dealer when ever a new unit is installed on a fairly new car even if the part number was exactly the same as the old one used to be?

Sorry for these stupid questions. I'm just trying to understand how this protection system works and wondering why i did not find any references to that system when i googled this problem and read multiple forums and posts considering this same problem that i have. Any idea how new this system is? 2012 -> perhaps? :wonder:

Went to visit the dealer and it didn't go as in the movies. They tried to connect VAS to the car for an hour and a half but were unable to connect to the Climatronic panel at all! I can still connect to it with VCDS... Also they told me that the component protection was introduced on skoda last year so they didn't beleive that it would be the case here.

I have to try to source an older version of the panel somewhere in order to get it function properly.
