Engine Shaking.

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I just joined to hopefully get a bit of advice. I've got a 53 plate vrs, and for a while the engine has been shaking a lot more than it used to while idle. It stops when I press the clutch. I'll admit I've not taken great care of the car so with my extremely limited knowledge of cars (I can change a wheel!), I'm assuming it's probably the filters or something? Can anybody give me some pointers of possible reasons for it and how much these things cost? I literally have no idea about cars so don't get too technical! Haha Thanks in advance.

Rob.

I had this problem and it turned out to be the duel mass flywheel cost about 350 to fix all is good now but that may not be your problem try a new dogbone mount and see if that solves the problem first

i changed my dogbone recently which cured this :)

Simple answer is it could be a number of things, engine mounts and dog bone are the first that spring to mind but rather than guess, as you admit cars aren't your thing, and most suggestions will involve getting your hands dirty and ideally getting under the car it may be best to take it diagnosed properly and that likely involves paying someone some money to have a look at it.

When's the next service due as it may be easier to ask whoever services it for you to have a look at the same time?
