Cheapest insurance

Featured Replies

Done several quotes online and the cheapest I have been quoted is with Diamond insurance for £409 fully comp. I'm 31 and have 8 years no claims. Can anyone recommend any insurers not on comparison sites for a quote.

Aplan car insurance.

Try skoda insurance, I found them to be the cheapest. Under written by Allianz. The reason i changed was someone hit my car after 3 days of ownership and the cowboys at Admiral insisted i went through their body shop people. I insisted main dealer and won. Skoda insurance is main dealer repairs which suits me fine.

Try Swinton, good for me and got £75 cash back.

Thanks folks. I'm trying a few quotes out now. Skoda up first....

chris knott & brentacre always been good for me :-)

Lol £409 is a steal! Across the water here in NI the cheapest I can get with 6 years no claims is £1400. Thank god for company insurance :-)

Insurance lottery ,cheap for some but not for others ,its still worth a try though but as you say some quotes from companies beggar belief.

I had a similar quote from Diamond but when I went direct to them instead of through a comparison sight there were loads of additional things on the policy and it went up by double so be careful with it! I then decided to go with Roland Smith instead.

Try Zenith insurance, the other half saved quite a lot through them.

Yeah some are absolutely ridiculous when they quote you. I would be happy with £409 if that ended up being the cheapest which I suspect it will be (will definitely keep a look out for those sneaky extras should they try and load them onto the policy). Skoda quoted me £890 and tried Aviva and they were £537. Looks like my days of owning a VW Golf R32 may be numbered if I'm getting these quotes for a Fabia :)

just check all the 'extra's' they can add, legal cover for instance, you only need this once and not on every policy you have, if your in a union you might have this already. courtesy car, do you need it? breakdown is included in skoda assist etc etc. excess, i always make it round the 150 mark as i wouldnt claim unless its a big claim anyways, radio for instance id just buy a new one rather than claim. multi car policy's can work out cheaper if your other half has a car, aviva give a discount if you have another insurance with them, home for instance. be specific with the mileage youll use, why have 12 if you use 8k

theres a lot of options you might not really need, best to check them out

also a good tip, join quidco, in the past ive had as much as £75 cashback off a less than £200 policy

Insurance is always a issue all depends on age .claims made .post code .Just about to get mine in fact it is due on the 10th Feb .Last year i went with Skoda direct and paid £239 this year they want £245 .Went on the comparisen sites and about to settle on the Post Office underwrtten by Chaucer or RAC underwritten by CO-OP all for £157 £200 excess £100 Voluntry £100 compulsery Fully comp protected 9yr Bonus ,legal exspences etc like for like with Skoda .

Skoda do say they use only geniune parts but i recon most repairers will .It is a Fabia 2012 1.2 TSI 80bhp Iam to be fair a senior so this works in my favour car kept off road not garaged .It just pays to shop around loyalty does not work these days

Despite my precious post i actually went back to Skoda and they requoted it now £215 .on checking closer with other sites they want an extra for car hire about £25 for a 14 day cover max .also not quaranteed to use a approved Skoda body shop or parts and warranty stays in tact If car is off the road no matter how long they will quarantee a loan car at no cost even if it is my fault .

So for an extra few £££ gives peace of mind
