I have been looking to move on from the Roomster, a fantastic car for what it was and great for 4 dogs but 70 hp is just not enough and 3,800 rpm + on the m-way is bloody noisy.

I originally planned to trade in against a new Roomster with the 105 tsi and the dealer initially offered £4200, eventually raising to £4900 against list. I was happy with this. Anyway the deal fell through due to Skoda deciding to cease production of the SE+.

I decided to get an online valuation from wbac just to see how fair the px was, and wether to take advantage of an internet price on a future car.

The wbac quote returned at £5480 which seemed very fair and in line with the px

I have of course heard and read all the stories and warnings about wbac and them knocking '000's of the valuation for the slightest things so it was some trepidation that I went along to an Asda car park this afternoon to see a man in a mobile shed.

I thought my fears where coming true, I had declared the car as partial service history for the quote, but because the service spanner was showing he said that was £200 quid off, There where a few very and I mean specks not craters paint chips on the bonnet and front bumper which he also picked up on (despite a good autoglym) and the back bumper was badly marked from dog claws and a 6" scratch from swmbo reversing into a wall.

I did say that surely they must allow for 3 years use and not expect as new pristine condition, but no, he stated that the quote was for pristine condition and then it was downhill from there.

I was expecting a derisory offer of around £4000 but after a little bit of debate over the service light and the meaning of partial service history he put the whole list of blemishes into his computer and it returned a final price of £5128.01  along with the return of the tax disc a total of £5173.01.

So the Roomster as gone, I found the chap very pleasant and the experience very fair, I dare say I would have got another £500 selling private, maybe, eventually, and that I am now carless until a new one is ordered/ delivered From this pov the PX price was equally fair if not fairer. Some may argue that the extra £1000+ I have saved by selling for +£200 and ordering at -£800+ is not worth the inconvenience of 8 ~ 12 weeks of no car.

Anyway imo if you are looking to sell your car and don't want the hassle of advertising, tyre kickers waiting weeks etc etc or need to sell quick, or just want the no p/x to grab a bargain then WeBuyAnyCar.com are well worth a try.

(providing the cash lands in my bank in the next 4 days!!! )

Nice report mate.

When u said the guy knocked u back to 4000 and pick on every little

blemish as it was a brand new car - i went "oh no".

But u did well, stuck to ur guns for top dollars too - well done and hats to u for even getting a better price thn skoda PX :-)

I also sold my BMW 1 -series to wbac a few years ago.

I researched the company and expected thm to pickup every stone chip,

dirty interior and service history, tyre condition etc etc.

So i was very honest on the online quote.

Clean the car immaculate and got some part-worn tyres with good tread.

In the end there, in a tiny rental room in an old mill - the guy

couldnt knock anything back but a few stone chips and dents

tht only a microscope could pickup!

But i still wanted to increase the price and we sat in his office for so long

tht it seems forever he was "suppose" to be on the phone to his boss.

But i got what i wanted in the end.

But just a word of warning: unless u got a pretty mint or sought after car - thy will still try to offer u peanuts...

You misread me my friend, I said I expected him to knock me back to £4k after what others have reported, but now it is the computer that churns out a non-negotiable price once the details are inputed.

I am really suprised at that price. I, probably like you, had assumed they paid well below book to maximise profits. But sounds like it is a fairly reasonable offer, especially as it allows you to push for a better deal from the stealer.

Just goes to show, don't ask, don't get.

Did they charge their £50 admin fee?

The admin fee is £75 for cars over a certain value, £5128.01 is after that was taken :)

Aw - my humble apologies.

Very impressed with that I thought wbac was wolves in sheeps clothing, pleasantly surprised

Wbac is run by the same lovely people who own car craft. I wouldn't buy a lollipop off them again, and I managed to offload an absolutely shared out 3yr old accord onto them. If you get what you want then all well though.

good effor mate :) (postmanpat)

I used WBAC when getting rid of SWIMBO's Mergane Cabriolet (AKA the Skip) after trying unsuccessfully to sell it privately We followed the web site to the letter, putting in any flaws a specified. and when we took the car to their premises we got exactly the same as the web quotation. Money in the bank 4 days later.

If you need to shift a motor and are realistic about its value they are well worth a try.

If you go in with your eyes open I suppose it's well worth a punt.

Sold our '07 suzuki jimny and actually got more than quoted as the damage my wife listed was deemed less so got an extra £300 what we expected so was delighted, really nice bloke aswell !!

I've used WBAC before too. Again, really pleasant chap to deal with. Did an online evaluation of my 407 whilst sat in the Peugeot dealer after being given a £2000 quote for AC repair & Driveshaft/ball joints and gearbox seals, drove home, washed the car, had the requested phone call at the time I wanted and within the hour I was walking home with the car gone :)

Their no fuss attitude was just what I needed and although I got slightly less than a private sale I managed to buy my mk2 Octavia for a better price as I didn't have anything to trade in

It's good to hear a couple of years on and their service is still good. Well done Andrew

Did an on line valuation just for fun (please excuse that one!) - £75! :giggle:;)

We sold the other half's Panda 100hp through them to save the hassle of private sales. They offered a reasonable price (more than the local Fiat dealers we approached) and so we took it along to the local office (literally an office on a trading estate) to do the deal. The chap was relaxed and had a no-pressure approach, looked around the car and seemed happy that our description matched the actual condition of the vehicle and we got the price they promised.

Interesting that they're part of the Carcraft group - would explain why it appeared for sale at the Sheffield branch the following month :D
