Skoda Rapid in China

Featured Replies

This is the Skoda Rapid in China, which is launched on the 9th March. It's a three box design rather than a hatchback. It is built on the same line as the Volkwagen Santana. I rather like the interior, they have full leather trim on the top model and chrome trim across the dash and the door. Looks much better than the austere European version, even though its the same hard plastic. More pictures here:

Like the chrome strip on the dash. Leather looks a bit saggy though and would prefer the sports seat on "our" version. Prefer the rear lights on the European Rapid too.

The interior, although an older design, looks far nicer than the Euro Rapid! It's probably the same quality, but the silver strip and added colour makes it seem to be much higher quality. I still don't like the exterior of either however and 120hp is still not enough power, especially for how they're going to position it here in Australia (as a Mazda 3 - our top selling car here, which has a 150hp 2.0 engine as standard, let alone the 170hp 2.5 or 180hp 2.2 diesel - competitor).
