hi everyone!

Featured Replies

I'm Adam, and am known as Phil collins on Talkaudio.

I drive a 1.0l Micra at the moment, but am looking for a new car at the moment. The Fabia 1.2 12v Comfort/Ambiente is very high on my "possibles" list!

Can't go for more performance due to insurance concerns. The alternative is an SDi, but I know these are very slow despite having a 1.9 litre engine under the bonnet. Good economy though, which is important, I often cover 300 miles in a weekend!!!

Anyway, just wanna say, hello chaps  any comments on my choices???

:)

Thans mate, anyone have any comments on the SDI or the 1.2 12v?

I understand that the 1.2 6v is best avoided?

Get the 1.2, not the diesel.

Oh, and welcome :wavey:

Welcome :orb_wave:

Go for the 1.2, it is getting a cult following from students ( 2 own them on here & are well chuffed )

Wooo, cult following, eh?

Anyone have any idea what the fuel economy is lke on the motorway for the 1.2?

I went to look at the Fabia a few days ago, I had a good poke around one at my local dealer, he was a very friendly chap and helpful, even though I said I wasn't buying for a couple of months. I have to say, I was impressed with the car and how it was built, and also well impressed with the dealer's attitude! I have been treated like total **** by car dealers before (namely Seat and Nissan!!!) :finger::mad: so this was a welcome surprise!!!

Oh, and thanks for the welcomes, this looks like a friendly place to be :D:thumbup:

Hello

I would steer clear of the SDI, i used to own a diesel 106 with no turbo and it was really slow. Even small petrol engines feel nippy upto a point.

I have also heard of people buying SDI's and then getting equal or lesser mpg out of them than TDi's because you have to have the pedal on the floor to accelerate, get up hills etc.

Most importantly, test drive them both :)

Thanks for that mate, I definitely will do.

90% of the time, the car will be cruising at 80mph on the motorway. One thing that attracted me to the Fabia is that I've read on here and on other places that cruise control can be retrofitted.

It would be VERY nice to be able to just get to 80, press a button and relax!

I am also interested in making the car look nice, so perhaps some VRS wheels are in order?

One thing is for certain, the car will have a BIIIGG stereo in it :D I already have a big stereo in my Micra and it barely moves, LOL....

Welcome:)
