08 VRS Diesel - Uprated suspension with standard ride height

Featured Replies

I have a 2008 Diesel VRS Hatchback with 62K on the clock.

Thinking about uprating the suspension as its getting a little sloppy.

As I live in the glorious urban North, Leeds of all areas, lowering the car will cause me a problem - speed bumps!!!!

So does anyone have any suggestions as what to go for - Koni / Bilstein / Spax / Weitec???

Also where to buy from and any reputable garages in the Leeds area to fit them.

Suppose I could lower 10/15mm maximum.

Cheers for any advice

just upgrade the shocks with bilstein B6s

Agreed. I kept the standard springs on my golf G60 and just used Koni full adjustable inserts and it was a brilliant handling car after that. I'll do it again on this car if the shocks wear out and if Koni make them for the octy.

If you're prepared to lower 10/15mm a set of Eibach springs will make a world if difference in addition to some springs. If you're lowering substitute B6s for B8s or look for the B12 kit.

I have Eibach pro's and Bilstein B6's

This is my height, tiny bit lower than standard nothing to low though or A. it looks stupid and B. doesnt handle at all.

Thanks for the advice everyone and your pic Grizzle, interesting to read the difference of opinion

Got the B12 kit, which is eibach + B8.

The B6 shocks are at their lower limit on eibach springs, the B8 shocks are fine with those springs.

Either will work, it's just that the B12 kit contains the B8 shocks.

I think it's a great set up.

Depending on the springs, Pro's are fine for B6's i have spoke to Bilstein at length regarding this and they think its a great setup.
