Headlight Connector Plug (Electrical)

Featured Replies

Having (had, gave up and will try again) a nightmare to disconnect the headlights from the wiring loom (headlight connector). I was attempting to replace both units for some new ones at the weekend, dropped the bumper etc, but could not get the plug disconnected from the back of either headlight. It looks like someone who has the car in the past has 'given it a go' and made a bit of a hash of things as the connectors appear to have been mullered. As there is very little space for me to see what is what (to see if there is a tab to be pushed down or whatever) is anyone able top give a little guidance as the process of removal?

I slipped in a mid sized screwdriver along the side of the connector where you would expect it to go (under what appears to be a guide and release tab), hoping it would release, but nothing.

Please help!

Much appreciated, thanks.

All connectors will have a tab you push in, when I had my Octavia, one side released no problem and the other was a pain even with the tab removed,( from new ) GT85/wd40 helps them release

Is the tab not meant to be pulled out.? Lol

No, the tab simply needs to be rocked to release, then the connector should just slide off.

Once one headlight is off, it's a lot easier to see what to do on the next side.

Have a look at the below guide. The bit about the connector 3/4 way down. It's a smaller connector, but the same type.

Thanks all for your comments, I will give it another go, probably at the weekend. Can't believe I got 95% of the way there and couldn't do the last simple bit, and Wilsy7 I'll look out for you thundering past me on the Motorway ;) .
