Thinking about buying a new Yeti

Featured Replies

This would be my fourth Skoda :) After replacing my 2 years old Octavia for Superb I'll probably replace the 1 year old Fabia for Yeti :) :)

The questions I have:

1. Does the 2x4 offer any more off road capabilities than a regular car?

2. Does it have the "off road" mode (like 4x4) or any other "off road" settings not found in a regular car?

I'm not going to use it much off road just curious wether I should go for the 4x4 models or stick with 2x4.

Thank you in advance,

krko

I had a 4x2 and the only advantage it had over a regular hatch was the increased ride height and, presumably, a suspension and chassis design intended to take a little extra punishment. I found the ride height handy for driving on some nature reserve tracks where a normal hatch would ground itself. It didn't have any additional traction modes such as with the new 4x2 Fiat Panda Trekking. Perhaps Skoda will offer this with the facelift. My reason for going 4x2 instead of 4x4 was cost. I would take a 4x4 money no object.

^^^^ +1. I used part of the money I saved ,by not having the 4x4 ,for a set of Skoda winter wheels &tyres.

Yes, increased ground clearance, plus short front and rear overhangs.

Afraid not, and to be honest, not required..

Both the above are correct its only real advantage is ride hight. It all really depends on where u plan to use it.

For probably 98% of people the 2x4 is more than adequate and is an amazing car.

I've got a 2x4 at the moment and have just ordered the 4X4 I like others only didn't get the 4X4purely because price was the issue .

You will find this car handles so well, almost gt like and I would see it as a huge improvement over your fabia. (don't take that the wrong way) the fabia is a great car but the yeti is more practical and definitely more capable off road on farm tracks and so on.

Take it out for a test drive see what you think.

That extra ride height has been a real advantage during the floods this year and has taken me through floods that I would not have tackled in a standard car.

If you don't need 4x4 for going offroad or (very) enthisatic driving I'd advise against.

We have one of each, the 4x4 does go offroad, tows a 1800kg trailer and also gets whizzed round the odd track.

But the 2wd does everything we need of a family car, so it's all most people need IMO.

The 4x4 does have a button for "Off Road Mode" but you don't really need it unless you are going to do some serious mud plugging or hill decents. I've only pushed it once to see if it lights up. :giggle: Yep, it works!

Thank you all.

Ordered a 1.2 TSI Candy White. Should be here in 2 weeks :)

Two weeks????? Is there one already in the UK at another dealership that has been sourced for you?

I waited 2 weeks as well as the dealer found an un-allocated Urban that was "in transit".
