Was the footage used by the insurance company?

Or was it not needed because he was obviously at fault anyway?

Phil

Did the Cops charge the guy with anything re being on the phone?

I don't use it anymore but it was a cheap £20 job off ebay. It still works but for some reason just haven't been bothered to attach it to the car recently.

Pretty sure it was this one.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SmartCam-HD-Car-DVR-720P-Dashcam-Driving-Recorder-HDMI-2-5-LCD-UK-SELLER-/270964106767?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3f16b8260f&_uhb=1

Just to be clear. The guy wearing the womens vest is not me!

Important to clear that one up. Its a shocker.

Intrigued as to why you needed to pull up so sharply as the light seems to have been red for a while

Still no excuse for him to ram you though

It was fairly abrubt braking but the guy behind should leave more than enough space for reasons like this - he was unequivocally at fault.

Top tip on that cheap dash cam too.... hmmm....

That dash cam looks good for the price! Judging by the screen and stickers on it it's supposed to be used upside down, mounted to the top of the windscreen?

I mounted it behind the mirror so the screen flipped down so could be seen below the mirror if I wanted. It is really cheap but done the job. I did however corrupt one of my SD Cards which locked it making it unusable. I am going to get a more professional camera and have it hard wired to the ignition.

That's not bad quality for £25 quid. Seriously thinking about a punt on one of these devices.

This one looks pretty decent, I started off a the £25 one and then found a £40 one, and now this.

It turns out that shinier things cost more money..

Im going to get the new Blackview 500g Wi-fi

Glad it's all settled. Off topic a bit but what is that on the dash that can be seen reflected in the beginning of the vid? The mrs keeps asking me but I have no answer.

Yes you pulled up sharp, which was pretty daft and for an even dafter reason - but not only as others have said should he have left space, but he should have seen the red light just as much as you did.

Well done on keeping fairly calm though. Last time I got rear ended I had a total sense of humour failure and one or two expletives may have been directed at the other driver as I got out. Mind you, it was the second time someone has crashed into my car within the space of an hou ( with someone else having already done the front whilst the car was parked up)

I didn't want to say anything but the car in the video did pull up quite sharp and I think over ran the white line. Still the other driver must have either been too close or not watching the brake lights.. That road reminds me of Winchester for some reason.. I sell Curtains and Blinds and are often that way..

But super glad the car by the looks of it has been repaired really well nice one.. :-)

oh I forgot I have those dash cams for all my works vans now, I put them in every thing we drive for work.

It is Winchester. Not sure which reflection you are referring to but it will either be the centre of the dash or a dead bug.

For £21 thats a bargain camera.

Ordered one and gonna stick in the back of the car. The idea being if I get hit then fine, on film, if I hit someone then the camera was facing the wrong way lol

It says it activated by movement...got me thinking about leaving it on when parked. Do you think it would be activated if someone nudged me in a car park. Tbh that is where all the damage on my cars has been done!

If no ones knows then when I get it I will try it and report back

Cheers

I would not leave the camera on while not in the car. I heard stories of the cheap Chinese battery's exploding. I just had mine so it turned off and on when plugged into 12v socket. I took the battery out.

Good point well made. Look like a Nokia battery so have a few and might swap it out?

Presume the Finnish can be trusted more :)

The other guy shouldn't hae been relying on the rake lights though. He should have seen the red light ahead and thought "crikey that blokes going to jump that red light - I'm not though I'm gonna sit back"

There's also the fact that cameras often make it look like the cars going faster than it is. It might not have been such a sharp stop as it looks.
