Quick Oil Question

Featured Replies

Folks, I know there have been many oil questions but I just want to check - 1.9tdi pd , want to change the oil every 5 or 6 thousand so I dont think i need vw507 spec is that correct? Or did skoda update things to all need to use 507?

thanks

Think its safer with 507.

Definitely 507, nothing less. You need to baby those narrow cam lobes.

Where can I get decent 507 spec at a reasonable price and is there any oil out there that is both 507and GM Dexos 2 compliant? I also have an astravan and I could buy one type of oil in bulk.

Try Opie oils they seem to have a good reputation and often have offers on

I'm not sure if Asda have their offer on but they used to do 4 litres for about £30

Hi , not wanting to hi-jack this thread ,We have a "2012 Octavia 16tdi 105bhp " went to skoda dealership to get some oil ( 1 litre for top up ) we was given " Castrol EDGE Professional , longlife 111 5W-30 " SAE 5W-30;ACEA C3; " VW 504 00/ 507 00; Porsche C30 " . this was the same oil we were given when we had a 2011 Roomster 12tsi 105bhp . Is the same oil now been used in both Petrol and Diesel ?

I got some oil from my local Skoda dealer for SWMBO 1.9pd Seat and they gave me quantum 5-40 which is 502/505. I've used castrol edge turbo deisel in the past which is the same spec. Service interval on that is 12 months 10k and we've never had any problems so think possibly 507 is overkill. It's also 5-30 so will be thinner at higher temperatures which would concern me personally if the 'correct' oil is a 5-40.
