Forget ABS... where's my turbo?!?!

Featured Replies

Must have tempted faith when I started to talk about modifying the car again as this morning I woke up to, what I can only describe as, a normal aspirated engine! No warning lights on the console, and it sounds exactly the same as yesterday (when it still had the ooomph). Am going out at lunchtime to see if it has cleared itself, but if it hasn't, does anyone have a clue what it could be?

popped hose?

small vole nesting in the intake?

your right foot has gone lame without you knowing?

Mine did that about a month ago felt like a normal 1.8, lol. I did a search on here and tried what I found, which was to turn on the ignition for thirty seconds, turn off again and re-start the car. It was and has been fine since, bit of a wierd one. Apparently, it happens when the car's been modified, a sensor throws a wobbly and drops the boost right down to prevent damage. :)

I had the very same experience last week, totally nothing in the go department.

Turned out the be the my DV had 'gone dry' and was open all the time. Quick service and greased 'er up......GOOD AS NEW

Well, just popped out and had a blast around the local roads, and it seems to be back to its normal self... May never find a cure, but at least I know it is not permanent...

Temporary limp home mode? Mine used to do this, and it the MAF starting to fail.

Could be the famous TaviaRS (or was it Ian?) intercooler hose. I sometimes get the symptoms you describe when starting the car from stone cold (overnight) but a quick reboot, sometimes even "on the fly" *slaps wrist* always cures it. It happens once every couple of months and I can't be bothered to try and track down such an intermittent fault.

I've had that replaced at the last service as it had caused a power loss as well. The replacement part uses a different locking mechanism so it should be secure...

This is the old item
