Hunter 4 wheel alignment

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with the Hunter 4 wheel alignment system? Had my car checked at a local wheel specialist. They have a good reputation, BUT I was slightly concerned when the operator was finding my car on the software and he got two options. I'm paraphrasing but one was "standard" suspension and the other was labelled "RS Sports" suspension. He initially went with the standard until I asked him if that was correct as my car is the vRS model. He didn't definitively know which he should choose! This may be a stupid question (wouldn't be the first time!), but I wanted to check whether the vRS Estate I have which is completely standard has the "standard" suspension" or the "RS Sports". i.e. was the RS Sports suspension standard on my car or was it an optional extra for the vRS model?

Additionally if anyone can recommend somewhere to go to get my alignment checked at somewhere that knows how to use their equipment properly and are good mechanics at making the necessary changes, please let me know. I live in Sheffield but regularly work in York so anywhere between or near either of those would be great.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hunter system is one of the best out there. The vRS confuses a lot of people, it should be done on the RS Sports setting. The front setting is the same regardless, and the rear is non adjustable. All that would happen on the wrong setting is the rear camber would show as being out (and this cannot be adjusted).

Perhaps post a copy of the results print, then others can comment but if its green then it should be spot on.

I would not bother going anywhere else, they will find it out of alignment even if its perfect. Had the same with my Audi, one place set it up fully. 1 week later whilst getting new tyres (previous place had no stock) they did a free check, and said it was miles out. I did not tell them it had been done recently, and they said that the tyre wear indicated it was out and showed me a printout (well it was out 1 week earlier). Since then without the second place touching it I have done 8K miles and the tyres show no sign of uneven wear.

It is possible to skew the figures to make you think its out (the second place did I believe even when its not.

Try to avoid posting in multiple forums, it only confuses everyone later.

wow, i would have walked out straight away.

i always have a peak into the shop when they are doing it, check the gages for myself while they are doing it.... its a VAG spec car so the Std tracking should be 0. most VW spec cars have the front and rear wheels aligned straight, so they should line up down the gauge reading 0, The octavia Vrs is no different, Some cars have a little toe in or toe out for some reason... something to do with the susspension setup and getting the correct handleing... oh some reason i have not had time to learn about yet.
