18" Alloys on 1.6TDi Greenline

Featured Replies

I enquired to Skoda about upgrading from the Greenline 16" wheels to 18's.

The reply;

Regards your query about upgrading your wheels from 16" to the 18"
version, while it may be physically possible to fit the 18" wheels to
your vehicle it would conflict  with the "Greenline" concept.
Let me explain, your vehicle has many attributes that class it as a
"Greenline" vehicle. One of these attributes is the wheel dimensions and
the tyre specification. The specification of your vehicle is designed to
give you minimum fuel consumption.
Skoda permit the use of 17" wheels on your vehicle while still
maintaining the "Greenline" benefits. I have included the wheel and tyre
specification in the attached document and if in doubt please contact
your nearest retailer who will be able to advise you on wheel types
tyres and associated costs.

Wheel and tyre specification for Greenline 1.6 /77 kW TDI CR;

205/55 R16 91H (7Jx16)

Or

205/50R 17 93H (6Jx17)

My question is will the Fabia VRS Gigaro 17" wheels with disc wheel size 7J work because it's not 6J as in the spec?

Edited by cornelia

7J will be made for 225 wide tyres, rather than 205 as described above...

the 18" will fit just fine, as no body work has changed between a Standard version, and your Greenline version - BUT, the increase in width will have an impact on fuel consumption, therefore, you "should" pay more road tax! - Which is why Skoda can't condone the use of 18" rims...

Not ‘out of the box’ no, they are the wrong PCD,

the Fabia uses 5x100 and the Superb 5x112, so adapters would be needed as well.
