2nd hand car prices

Featured Replies

I have recently thought about trying to buy and sell a few cars on the side of my normal work. question is though, are 2nd hand car prices high or low at the moment? just wondering if it will worth it? or just alot of hassle for not alot of gain.

They all look too high to me. And trade in value seem too low.

Lots of dealers with lots of metal that doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

I have been buying and selling on the side for years, it is a tough ask right now I have found far more cash in breaking cars than selling them whole but is is quite a bit more work

You do not seem that up on your local market if you are needing to ask here,

research in Local Papers classified, Guntree, Autotrader etc

(and not saying where you are does not help in the reply.)

Depends where you are and how many other Traders,

More demand for easy to MOT and cheap to tax cars than ever.

So early year 2000's for emissions and Tax.

Gamble £500 & Just go for it if you can buy cheap and sell for more.

(& know something about cars and the market.)

Once you have bought and sold 1 or 2 you will be a Trader and will need to declare in adverts, keep records,

get Insured and insurance as a trader, Register & probably get a licence/permit depending on your local council and pay tax on any profits.

have fun.

Well I've got my first cheapy which by looking at what others are being priced at appears to be under market value so fingers crossed. I didnt put my location as I'm not a freedom member and didnt want to be seen as abusing the forum.

I work for a main dealer garage so should see a few bargains go through. cheers for the pointers though guys. Didnt think about the neccessary evils regarding permits etc. something I should watch as I dont want to end up on the wrong side of the law.

Dare I say it but a friend of mine does this just to top up his summer car fund during the winter and he only deals with Clio 2 1.2 16v be it 3 or 5 door damaged or not damaged ive seen him pull over £1k in profit on one but there not dirt cheap in the first place, also a garage by me he also said the same about clios buys and sells them for fun it's a girl thing apparently :)

All used car prices have risen to rediculous levels in recent years.

Prices are high & all it it seems to be is tat!!
