pd150 turbo a straight swap for a pd130?

Featured Replies

as the title suggests. is the pd150 turbo a straight swap onto a fabia vrs 2004?

if anyone has done this, please chime. what work is involved

many thanks

Yes, but there will be no gains until it has been mapped suitably.

The PD150 will need to be clocked (housing turned round)....

You're better off doing a search as there is literally dozens of similar topics.

You'll notice a bit more lag, mapping really needed to benefit

It will be fine

Mine had a hybrid 150 on stock map for a while

Is 200bhp do-able?

its ok. after doing a detailed search. i will be looking to hybrid the original turbo. should be good for 210 give or take.

its the most economical choice and a red dot racing custom live remap at £200 is a steal.

many thanks

How much does it cost to hybrid the standard 130 turbo?

I got a knackered garrett 130 turbo hybrided for £375..

I wouldn't hybrid a standard kkk 130 turbo because they are made of toffee lol and are renouned for failing even standard ones on a non-mapped car ;)

ive have mine mapped for 2 years by red dot racing. at 172bhp. its going very strong. and i know many have also. standard can be mapped and still reliable. some horrors stories may have been taken out of context due to other factors such as neglect and poor service.

should cost around 250 if you can service it yourself by changing the internals, depending if it needs trimming. must be balanced tho. or like matt said around 400 for a complete job from a reputable turbo builders.

ive got a PD150 turbo in good condition off a mk4 golf 230 posted

What's the price difference between hybriding a 150 or a 130?

150 makes more power

130 standard mapped - 175bhp

150 standard mapped - 195bhp

130 hybrid - 210bhp

150 hybrid - 230bhp

And the 150 turbo is a Garrett GT1749VB

The 130 turbo has the same code but last 2 digits are VA

The 150 is found on

150 golf mk4's

150 bora mk4's

150 leon cupra tdi / fr tdi

Lol price difference is what he asked Jase ;):D

Lol to answer that question i dont know!

Guess i answered everything else though :o

At least I now know absolutely everything there is to know about them!! Very insightful.

sooo if you had a stage one map and went from a pd130 to pd150 would you see a power hike?

Or would it need re remapping to up the levels again?

A hybrid 130 does sound tasty though.

need to find myself a garrett!

wha models will i find a pd130 garrett on please Jase lol.

No you'll always need a remap when changing the turbo

They run at different boost levels you see.

Pd130 turbo's basically same bunch of cars

Mk1 A3 tdi 130

Bora 130

Golf mk4 130

Leon mk1 130

Toledo 130

Ibiza 130

Polo gt 130

...... Endless

Think ibizas have KKK m8..^^ but other than that all the others have Garrett
