Despite my old man having a fit when I'd told him I'd spend 14k on a brand new car I think that's fine and for a new car you can't go faster for less. He's the type to only want to spend 4k then works it to be £500 depreciation a year. I'm not going to lie and say I haven't had doubts about the car though. Mine does use oil and I can't escape that fact. In town my fuel consumption is dreadful. Stuck in traffic this morning and rushing to get to work I did 24mpg over 7 miles.

I've been having a lot of thoughts about my future and what I should be doing to make it better. One thought has been to cut my losses and sell it. Might get 12k if I sell now. The plan would be to downsize to something I can commute back and forth to work in because that seems to be all I do now. Thinking a Suzuki Swift or similar, something that still fun to drive just not as fast. I want to move out and buy a house so need a deposit. I have money saved but selling the car would add a sizeable chunk to that. But what about fun? I love driving so would I give up on that? Partly but I have a plan ;)

Sounds like your in a similar boat to me. Around town consumption isn't the best but overall i get high 30's mpg according to the maxidot. Cart say I've checked it manually though.

At the moment though I'm changing my mind daily. I love my cars and I've finally got something that i really like. If I'm going to downgrade then I'm going all the way and getting a comedy car that i don't care about. Warranty runs out in August so until then I'll keep an eye on here for any more disasters then nearer the time get a part ex price and go from there.

Just for an update , everything is still fine... No more issues.

And I think I may well keep it, a touch of spring weather today, and the meets and track days comming up , think I will have a big smile on my face all summer, fingers crossed!

Would be interesting to get the fault codes read. Even if it hasn't put a light on it may have logged a fault.

It sounds like it got a dodgy reading from a sensor or something and it just flummoxed it!

Still loving our DSG too Dave... not quite as much "go" as your car though unfortunately... :giggle:

If I do sell I'm getting something under 6k or maybe a lot less. Might buy an older car like an old Merc or BMW then when they break get something else.

spanked minty's ass to death on the way home , like i stole it, and nothing went wrong, getting a bit more confidence back now, just a glitch i think :)

Very concerned when I noticed you had posted in the thread again Sharkrider. As I said, I'm a pessimist so obviously thought the worst :( .......

Glad you had a good drive home and Minty behaved him/her self :)

Grand for three-year warranty sounds good to me - surprised (in a good way!).
