Damper replacement under warranty

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any experience of getting dampers replaced under the three year warranty (or having the replacement refused)?

I doubt SUK will do anything other than manufacturer defect (cracked/bent/fallen apart shock absorber) under warranty, you will be quoted wear and tear on the fact that factory shocks in all Skodas I bought new last for less than 15k miles before loosening noticeably. First symptom was car's nose rebounding in the roundabouts.

Just forget the stealer and replace the worn out shocks with Bilstein Sports B6 monotubes, one off expense of ?£500? for all corners and they last for a very long time.

On my Superb Bilsteins are currently at 100k+ miles / 6 years, and as taut as the day I put them on. This last remark coming from someone who thinks Skoda shocks are no good and all over the place after just 15k miles :)

totally agree my B6's have transformed my car.

I have OE vRS dampers and springs for sale if you're interested? Taken off my brand new car after 4 weeks use so as new.

Thanks for the input guys. A couple of questions:

i) Do the B6 dampers make the ride any harsher?

ii) Does the suspension design of the Octavia 2 require the car's geometry to be reset after changing the front dampers? (presumably the rears present no such problem.)

Based on my current experience of the car and given that it's a shopping trolley, A-road commuter and child carrier, I would not want the ride to be any firmer than it is, and I would expect the vRS components to take it in that direction. I am sure there will be someone who'll want them to make a standard car tauter though.

In that case just get Bilstein B4 OEM shock absorber but will probably outlast the car, you will need a 4 wheel alignment after fitting.

think for 4 shockers you are £245 delivered.
