Uniroyal rain sports are very good and cheap.

I use continetal contact 5s and they are exellent but cost more than the rain sports.Have a look at the camskill web site

those uniroyal seem the ones, cheers mate. might aswell ask u 205/40/17 are the right size tires to put on 17 inch octy spiders for my skoda fabia vrs right?

maxxis Z1's, good in rain, and utterly awsome on a hot dry day :)

Yes 205/40/17 should be fine for your wheels if they're a 7j size.

Toyo proxes 4's. I run them on the roomster in the same size you're looking at.

Harder wearing than T1-r's and surprisingly grippy.

after trying yokohama parada specII, yokohama S-drive, Bridgestone turanza and a couple of rubbish chinese one on my furby, I have just put some Michelin Pilot sport 3, They are awsome!! stick to the road! I recomend them Highly!

Some people are also using 215/40/17 tyres on the Octy Spiders on here. They say they offer a little more protection for the alloys themselves as they hang over the rim slightly.

It's what I'll be putting on mine as soon as i've worn the rubber down on my standard 16" vRS wheels :)

so putting 215/40/17 will still keep it in sinc with speedometer?

205 will be exactly the same as 215 regarding your speedo readings. 215 is just a slightly wider tyre :)

Actually, I take my last post back slightly.

The 215 will be EVER so slightly larger in diameter (by a couple of mm, as the '40' profile is a percentage of the tyre width), but the difference will be extremely small and probably unnoticeable

uniroyal Rainsport 2's seem to have good reviews, dry grip does not seem to feel as good as the continental contact sport 2's but I've not used them long enough/ not run in yet. No experience in the wet yet though. Main issue I'm having is that I'm finding myself having to poke out stones almost every other day as stones get stuck in the grooves very easily compared to other tyres I've had.
