BP Tanker drivers Scotland, industrial action.

Featured Replies

THe latter probably George - they will take any excuse possible to raise the prices and increase revenue

Biggest issue will be the panic buying and the shortages which will result from that, which is probably what the union actually want so that the public get hit and puts extra pressure on the company.

We do not panic in the North surely.

Hopefully people normally keep tanks full or well topped up all winter to reduce the chance of condensation

& if you need to put in fuel, lets just boycott any greedy places that try to cash in by hiking prices this weekend or next week.

They all got a pay rise not so long ago, so what makes the Scottish drivers so special?

No idea about being 'so special.' Their Mums probably think they are!

The reason for the industrial action, is said to be because of DHL winning a contract to deliver aviation fuel

& BP drivers going to lose earnings and pension.

That just means they aren't competitive so screw their pensions! Well done DHL

Sack the lot and start again. I'm no tory boi, but this kind of whining in a period of recession / high unemployment is verging on immoral. If you don't like it then get off the potty and let someone else do it. Problem is, we gave these drivers a sense of power over the country after the major strike years ago, so all the muppets that cheered and tooted in their support should reflect on their short sighted naivety. Fuel is way too precious to society for it to be allowed to be manipulated by a bunch of cowboys slinging their guns around like kids in a playground.

Here here :)

Wait till the general transport strike starts, I don't know when but I think a lot of the hgv drivers are very upset with the way things have gone in recent years, most of the big company's have dropped wages to little more than minimum wage and only a pound an hour more for overtime, a general transport strike would be catastrophic

THink the price rises have already started - I'm sure I paid £1.43w for diesel at Sainsburys the other day - didn;t notice it was so damn high until after the fact... :wall:

Gone from 1.41 to just under 1.44 here in a day so yes on the way up

They had a protest outside my work today (grangemouth docks) must have been about 12 strikers and about 7 police

Not very succesful i reckon

cheap as chips!!! anything from 144.9 to 147.9 round here.

How about the greedy f**kers get lost?

The way they're going it'll soon be cheaper to build a pipeline to a few filling stations in key areas and just telling them to go swivel.

Its that time of year.... prices creep up , until the budget when your "freindly" fuel retailers will make a wonderfuly generous gesture in not passing on any budget change to their valued customers, and true to form will have a petrol "price war " with each other paid for from the higher prices levied earlier on in the year. just like last year, the year before and of course the year..........
