Few quick questions about the 1.4 TDi

Featured Replies

Hello,

Mid last year my missus purchased a mk2 Fabia 1.4 TDi. It's a basic model (IE no glove box etc) but has AC.

While I found the filters it takes are the same as my mk1 vRS does the 1.4 engine also take the same 505.01 engine oil?

Also besides adding a seat storage box is there any other cheap-ish mods that improves the day to day use of this cheap and cheerful runner?

I used castrol edge 5w 40 in mine, put engine cover and k&n filter bloody marvellous engine mine was th 80 bhp a great little runner, have a word with Estateman he will furnish you with the necessary information , well done on the purchase

Thanks for the reply. Do you know what VAG rated oil you use?

No not off hand but sure someone said 507 covers everything ? Castrol edge is vw 502-505 should have it in your hand book

Ahhh didn't realise it was a PD - same oil as my vRS - nice one. Might see if I can get a large drum of it :)

We are using Unelite LL 5w/30 in our Fabia Mk2 1.4 TDI Greenline, at £22.99 for 5 litres from Smith and Allan on Ebay. This is to spec 507.00 due to the DPF on the Greenline which MAY be better than 507.01 - someone may be able to give a definitive answer.

Not sure of the implications of 5w/30 vs 5w/40 (as Quantum Platinum), again some one may advise.
