Hi, My alternator is cooking my battery (I assume its the alternator and not the battery), Does anyone know where i can get hold of another one? I'v checked ebay and all they seem to have is the alternator for the 1.6.

GSF, Europarts or a local motor factor should be able to help if there is nowt on ebay. Or a second hand one from a scrappy?

Think a breakers might be a more sensible option.

Hmm I dont fancy buying a new alternator because they cost more than the car is worth, and I'v havent had much luck with breakers so far. Are the alternators interchangeable? by that I mean would one from a 1.6 fit mine without the need for much modification?

No a 1.6 alternator won't ft, you need to find one from a 1.3

ISTR that the control box is separate and available separately.

If it's over charging then it's just the voltage regulator that's gone. You can buy them seperately. Much cheaper and easier than a whole new alternator.
