Another Noise from Rear

Featured Replies

Driving along today and I heard a noise what's I can only describe as a stone in a tin can. It's was present at lower speeds went away when fully stopped and going over 15 - 20moh and re occurred when slowing again. Checked under car and nothing lose. It's quite loud too.

Any ideas what this horrid noise could be?.

Also it does not happen every time i drive I parked up at work worked a 10 hour shift and drove all the way home without hearing it once. Confusing...

Same, dont suppose your rear pads are needing replaced??

Just replaced pads and discs a few weeks ago. Would they make that noise if they were duff?

It might be a small stone that the wheel has flicked up and gone in between the disc and the backing plate

Ah maybe. Ill be pulling wheel off today and investigating if weather allows it.

Exhaust mount?

That was my initial thoughts but its lovely and secure and it's something rotational for sure only happens when car is moving slowly or slowing

Longshot, but does the octy have a thin tin type heatshield above the exhaust? Had similar on a golf before when it came loose.
