I had a good look over the cheapest and worst mk2 vRS for sale in the UK

Featured Replies

Work mate went to Bradford to look at an R32. All seemed fine over the phone.

When they got there half the description of the car was off and the alloys from the picture were nowhere to be seen. All smelt fishy so they walked. ****ed off at driving 200mi to a mis-advertised motor.

  • As this thread has degenerated somewhat from its original track, I am locking this to prevent further angst. Thanks

  • Why do people use hash tags outside of twitter? #pointless

  • Its fact. There are certain areas which are very dodgy for buying cars. bradford is one of them

look at the other cars they're advertising. all high mileage (ex fleet i guess - there is a big leasing company locally who i know one dealer in Bradford used to have a deal with - got my old Model ST TDCI from them and was very happy with it). my guess it was too cheap for the dealer not to risk taking a punt on... bit it still sounds like an absolute dog!

I have been there today, Idle to be precise, I also go to thornton road, used to be prostitute row, not anymore, Mercedes dealership and a mosque to boot!

That said it is like any other big city and not for me.

^ this. Is just a big city. I work there and whilst its not the greatest place in the world, its got character!

I worked there for three years, up near mayo avenue, I also frequent Bradford every week or so and have seen the changes made to the city centre, I have even spent a night crawling the pubs and ended up in queens hall whatever that was, can't remember.

No different to Manchester, Liverpool or London a big city. Has no influence on the quality of secondhand cars for sale within it.

I work over the road from that Merc dealership. BD8 is a rough as they come but no worse than any other city.

Im a born a bred bradfordian, but I have also lived and worked in and around London for over 15 years.

I once lived in the royal borough of windsor for 5years and boy it was rough!

5 years ago I moved my family back to bradford for a better quality of life,

I now live in a small village in rural bradford , my kids go to a small village school with only 30 kids per year.

I have a 5 bed detached house for the same price as my small house down south'

Each to there own but Life for me in Bradford is great!

That is where I go, Hockney road! Small world.

Yep thats the one!

I go to the label company on the first small estate of units by the electrical place, I also get over to D!ck lane to a metal can printers too, in fact everywhere I go has something to do with printing of some sort.

Im the GM of the large factory right at the top of the road!

We also have a small workshop opposite that electrical place,

Closest I've been to Bradford myself is Baildon....seemed very nice, great countryside around the area.

I've seen Rita, Sue and Bob too a few times though.....don't know if that counts as experience of Bradford (I think not), but a bloody funny film none the less!

Going for a jump? :-D

Bob will never leave me, he loves me too much

Classic.

Just seen this dodgy car and dealer. Every town has run down areas but great ones too. My old Octavia was the best kept Tfsi in the country six and a half years old and I sold it the next day after putting it on sale. £6500 it sold for. The Bradford city fans on tv showed us in our true light. Spend a lot less time on here and with good reason. I thought Skoda owners were not so blinkered , the R36 forum are not post code snobs

Hay Alan you bought your new car from one of the roughest parts of Bradford BD8.

Must mean its a shed acording to folk on here!

As has been said, every city in the UK has a similar lane leading to a some dodgy compound or similar in a bad part of town.

It's not a Bradford phenomenon, It's a fact of life.

it's been a good 10 years since I looked at cars in the Bradford area, maybe things have improved since then so I apologise if I upset anyone. At the time it was a very well known fact to be very cautious buying cars in that area.

You are not alone in your prejudice. If you want to upset a resident of Ilkley just remind them it is a suburb of Bradford.

Anyone on here from Ilkley? :giggle: :giggle:

Bradford does have a hole - the dopey council decided to demolish half the city centre to redevelop just before the banking crash in 2008!

That said, it seems to me you are either a total wimp or have some sort of irrational fear! :giggle: You need to stop reading the gutter press.

I went to uni there for 4 yrs - number of times attacked or mugged - zero

After going to uni I moved to Bradford and lived there for 30yrs - number of times attacked or mugged - zero

SWMBO was born and raised in Bradford, both our kids born, raised, schooled in Bradford- number of times attacked or mugged - zero

Number of friends and family attacked or mugged in Bradford over my 42yrs association with the city - zero.

How many times were you or your wife attacked or mugged in her 2 yrs?

BTW - if you want to know what part of Bradford - just look at my user name

Bradford has some rough areas but name me one UK city that doesn't.

For the record and to keep vaguely on topic, the number of cars I have bought in Bradford - 13 (including 2 Octavias), only 1 new. Number of dogs? 1 - the first one I bought 'cos I didn't know what I was doing.

I CANT stand Bradford for reasons I am not willing to discuss - Lets just say keep well away!

Racist white trash in Brighouse ! Fair enough if you live in Harrogate, but Brighouse , dont make me laugh, High street is charity shops , wilkingsons and wetherspoons

Bradford definately has a 'motoring' problem and driven there I can see it myself, sometimes the rules of the road simply don't apply !

And also evidence is available if you look.

how many treads have there been like this on Brisk??? most of the topics and people on here are good, plus there are damn site more Skoda's on the road than R36's so with a bigger group your bound to find something you don't like.

The car was sh!tty and so was the area but not all Bradford comes under that brush.

I hope you've got that R36 insured living their??? :bandit:
