Weird multiple malfunctions!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have the Skoda Fabia Elegance 1.4. It's been doing rather random things lately. The main problematic one is that the windscreen wipers stop for no apparent reason and take around a minute before they'll start again. It's generally ok if you leave them on a constant speed, but changing speed or stop/starting them can cause them to stop altogether for a while.

Bit tricky on the motorway in snow...

Any ideas?

Also the tailgate sometimes will not open electronically and I have to use manual.

Also the electric windows sometimes go all the way up/down with one click, sometimes you have to hold the switch.

The latest thing is unlocking/locking the doors itself whilst driving along.

Could these things be connected? Is there some kind of computer reset that may fix it all?

Thanks....

I just started to experience the same with my locks and windows not a clue what the problem is.

To me these faults seem to be linked to the "Convenience Module". That controls the central locking, the electric windows etc.

If this is going mad, I would suggest checking your battery leads, ensure they are done up tight, make sure theres no serious corrosion on the battery leads.

I found the short, Negative/Black, Battery lead had scoring inside the clamp, it would rattle on the battery terminal even when the nut was tightened and a lot of corrosion of the copper inside the crimped connector, and It caused many electrical issues. Once I replaced it, they went away

Also ensure the connection to the chassis is also clean and clear of any corrosion so that it makes a good electrical connection.

If there is a problem with the Battery lead, I would suggest buying a new one.
