Gloss Air vents with a subtle twist

Featured Replies

Had started painting my air vents gloss black and decided I wanted to somehow add in a touch of subtle red, but struggled to think of an idea that wouldn't end up looking cheap and tacky, but finally got an idea and tried this:

Still need tidying up a bit and laquering, but quite chuffed with how they've turned out so far. Barely even noticeable when fitted I'd imagine, exactly how I wanted. Also painted a small red stripe to the wee bit of trim that goes above my headunit, will add better pictures in a few days when it's all fitted back together.

looks good mate.

Nice touch

red and black FTW

how hard where these to get out buddy? did you do the centre console too?

looks cracking!

Get a flat screwdriver - large bladed one, and wrap a thin cloth around it, then simply "press" the dash in around the vent and you should be able to lever the vent out, gently going around the vent to ease out at all points.

Sometimes can get a little tricky with the up/down & left/right levers/mechanisms getting in the way so best to start it on the opposite sides if you want to "dig" a bit. :)

Prise them out, I used a small screw driver with a cloth on it :)

Nice idea but I would have gone for green personally

to tie in with the green in the badge on the steering wheel.
