Have Skoda missed a trick

Featured Replies

Hi have 1.4tdi 3 ( now elegance) Problem is i am being drawn to Fiesta Titanium Econetic at about 6/12 months old, but am feeling Skoda are missing out not offering Greenline II in Elegance spec. When I change my car I want to improve on economy , spec , comfort etc. Love my Skoda but not sure what they have to offer me now??

Probably the 1.6 tdi

Yes true but only modest gain in mpg and same firm (and expensive) low profile tyres.

45 or 50 profile being low??

Vrs has 40 profile and sport suspension - not once have I felt uncomfortable - you must be old or have a bad back to think that.

1.6tdi elegance is nice to drive too.

only 39 ( guess comfort is getting more important) I think 45profile is low on a small diesel hatch with no sporting intentions

Elegance is available in the 1.6tdi, you can change the wheels to 15inch and put 185-60-15 or 195-55-15 tyres on...or how about the greenline II and add a few extras on.

The standard tyres if 16 inch are more expensive than 17's.

most people go for the 15 or 17 if they want comfort or looks respectively.

thanks guys

With the sixteens 45 profile, I wonder if the cost of a new set of wheels would be worth while over the cost of replacements of tyre's every so often. I was not sure about comfort on the 45's but have to say I like the feel of the car with them. What about MPG? how much Difference between 15" wheels and 16"?

Now as for what Skoda offer over the Ford..... Well that just goes without saying.

IMO The Skoda is a better car, I do not like the inside of the Ford or the comfort of the seats.... I could go on.

sixteen 45s are about £100 a corner if you want good brand. i get 55mpg on every tank, don't drive hard or fast. bit disapointed that equipment levels on fabia have not changed in 6 years in fact elegance used to have parking sensors, now they are an option.fiesta in titanium trim seems to offer that little bit more, also 85 mpg is tempting (even if i only get 75)

Race Blue, the Fiesta has just had a 'facelift' which gives it a massive snout in my opinion. It also looks pretty awful with the (standard) smaller wheels (nearly all the ones you see have bigger optional wheels). You can have a few options on the Greenline or choice of diesel in the Elegance. The bigger question is do you want to take advantage of the great 'VAT free' offers or wait for the brand new Fabia next year?

Sorry Race Blue, ignored the bit about 6-12 months. Fiestas lose plenty so probably make good year-old buys - just don't pay too much, especially as it's now 'facelifted' - there are lots on Motorpoint. I would also be happy with 15' wheels on a Fabia for comfort but they don't look too good on a Fiesta. I wouldn't be without cruise control (standard on Titaniun, Elegance or Greenline). I think the Greenline spec would be just right except that it lacks curtain airbags and parking sensors. Have you looked at the Citigo? It offers quite a lot for a smaller car. Good luck!

The Fiesta in this class is the better car. They don't hold their value, but are leagues ahead in terms of drive, and a are built much better than Fords's of olde...

Still a ford though. And build quality isn't amazing, friends parents have a new Kuga - my parents yeti is leagues ahead.

really hard this one.buget is £11500 max including my car(£4500) greenline has economy, comfort etc but not equipment, elegance has most equipment but not big gain in economy. fiesta seems to offer both. no rush , will have to keep thinking.
