It's the expansion space at the top of the fuel tank designed to allow your fuel to expand as it warms, it's not a 'spare' tank, that's a fact, not opinion. You only have to look at some of the replies above to see that using inaccurate terms is causing people to get confused eg asking if it gets used first or last.

I can't manage as much in my leon mk1!

Expansion tank is around half of the fabia. I can only get another 2/3 litres max
