When I switch lower springs should I replace the following too?

Featured Replies

Quick question for you guys

When I switch lower springs (-30mm) should I replace the front suspensions top mount AND bearing and also the drop links (for standard, or adjustable)?

I think this would add an extra £50 or so to what I've already lashed out (about £250 for shocks and springs all round) so its mounting up, and thats before fitting

Got the nuts and bolts priced up about £15 for the dealers, they are definitely getting replaced as matter of course so want to make sure I have all the bits to hand - don't seem to be available anywhere else so I guess this is about the cheapest I can get them

Thanks very much

If its worth doing, worth doing properly IMO.

I changed the top mounts and bearing, FARB bushes along with both wishbone bushes when I put my coilovers on..... Didn't want to be taking it all apart again, or put in the garage again in my situation :giggle: if they failed after having it all off!

Some may say its not necessary, but I would have been annoyed at having to pay the labour twice, or remove the suspension again if doing yourself, when it's only an extra 50 notes to change them the first time round.

Good point ! Thanks for that

No worries mate.

Plenty of people (including myself) have put in Powerflex bushes and have seen great improvements to handling ;)

I changed the top mounts bearings and drop links when I did mine. Didn't do the bushes though. Perhaps I should have, it certainly would't hurt.

Top mounts are bearings minimum, anything else can be changed at a later date without too much hassle
