Engine Control Light

Featured Replies

Tomorrow (Monday) will be the 9th day my car has been with the dealer trying to fix the engine control light which remains on. They have already replaced the original sensor but then explained to me that the sensor was not communicating with the computer (or vice versa) and the values were incorrect. A new sensor has been ordered (from where ? hope not Czec Repub.)and I am patiently waiting. Have a loan car so not totally abandoned. Anybody beat 9 days for a simple fix? I guess the technology in the cars these days has outstripped the skills of the service staff.

would have thought they would have a warehouse full of stuff? a vw passat sensor should work, really the same engine i think. good luck and hope it gets fixed and you get it back okay :)

Quick update to my engine control light issue. Visited my dealer again yesterday after NOT getting the promised call the day before. Story now is the replacement sensor that would not acknowledge the computer was an incorrect part!! Correct part now on "back order" (not sure what that means exactly) and may take up to 10 more days to arrive. Must be coming by ship from Europe! As my Skoda warranty has expired, I guess I'm fortunate to have purchased additional warranty time before it did! Very frustrating trying to get the facts from the dealer!! In the meantime, my Skoda sits in the dealer's yard!
