Nah I'm not a mermaid kinda guy.

Bought a sharkfin for my fabia last week......standard ariel going back on..

Absolute pile of #@!#

Spray with Black Bumper paint or colour code and glue to the roof.

Barry Boy Shark fin look a like ariel at 'much cheapness'.

Comes in a good choice of shapes.

It's an 'Aerial', or if you want to be posh 'Antenna' :hi:

The best ariel is an Atom in my opinion! V8 one :D

Oh, Hi Jase, I did give him a link for the Atom.

I've got a shark fin aerial for sale - £10 delivered. Looks like a VAG antenna, but isn't.

Was only on the car for around three months before I fitted a proper GPS/GSM shark fin.

Works with FM reception in good reception areas, but don't expect miracles as the aerial is short.

PM me if interested - it is listed in the 'For Sale' section as well.

I thought this thread was about washing powder and thought it had been posted in the wrong area.

Disappointed

.

Was that a genuine VAG item though?

AFAIK the VAG ones weren't designed for FM reception but for GPS/GSM/WEBASTO/etc.

Double post removed. Apologies.

Interesting. Why do the fit them to some cars as the only antenna for radio from the factory. :S

AFAIK the shark fins with stubby aerial are for FM reception + other stuff.

The ones without get FM reception from aerials either in rear quarter glass (estates, VW Touran for example) or the rear screen demister.

There are additional aerial amps for this purpose hidden in the headlining or pillars.

Some Audi's & VW's don't have a roof aerial at all.

Hmm, think I'd just get the normal one TBH anyway, as it's fine except for the base going off.

Tempted to reflow the amp circuit and check the components to see if it helps.

My first Golf had no aerial - think it was a Mk4? The shark fin on my Superb is a dummy one I think, with the radio feeding from the side windows.

In contrast to some of the reports, I had a Sharan aerial on my last Octavia and didn't notice any drop in signal or reception. Likewise OH has stubby aerial on her Mini and that is the same.

Gents, I'm not surprised that you get a poor reception if you insist on using an Ariel to get programs on the radio . I'd even suggest it's a washout or an Atom( ic) disaster . Try using an Aerial .

17 posts including the OP & 8 flippant ones!

We all make mistakes sometimes.

You never get the answer you expect.

OP- my reply was pedantic, and was hoping comically to show the difference in the pretty basic use of English .
